I know this is a decent power 5 school, but this is officially the worst game defensively I've seen the 'Cats play in the last 5 years. I agree with the statement that if Banks was still here, this game is much closer. Our defensive scheme for this game has been far too much zone. They are sitting back trying not to let the big play happen, but in doing so, they are getting ripped to shreds for 10 yarders every other play. I feel like if we played a little more agressivley on defense in this game with some press man coverage and a few more blitz packages, we would be able to make a few of those stops and get our defense off the field. I don't recall Oregon State having to punt at all this game and there are 7 mins to go in the 4th. At least we've got the rest of the season to make some improvements.

Why are some convinced that the defense would have a better showing with Banks? Maybe with Banks...and Troy...and Amadre...and Webb...and Hardy.

Absolutely embarrassing. I don't care who we're playing. What a travesty of a game.

How do we see/ use Tommy going forward? Do we think he can develop as a qb who is a dynamic run threat, or is he more of a murray/troy hybrid who can hurt you with a favorable matchup in the pass game but is not a full field or maybe even half field passer?
I don't think we know any more than we knew three weeks ago. Is that a failure of the coaching staff, a failure of Tommy or just an unfortunate schedule?
Probably more the schedule than the prior 2, but one thing you could see both against mcneese and tonight, not as much against mhsu, is that he has a tendency to not fully trust himself and aim, or guide the ball a bit instead of letting it rip. He's an elite runner, though, that was clear tonight.
He throws floaters instead of darts, regardless of the distance. That's fine as long as the receiver is in the perfect position. If not, it's an interception.

Yeah this team basically lost 5 NFL players (not all defense). Tonight is pathetic but that fact can't be lost.

Well, that sucked…

I was impressed with O-line and that’s about it.

I’m not going to dismiss the defense just yet although they were awful tonight.

Cats get it back and roll next week in Cheney.

Yeah i think that's right, actually, hadn't thought of it exactly as a floater but yes i think you're right.

I think that answers my question. I was most concerned about our Defense this year and this is only 1 game but it certainly points to several problems that were covered over by 2 weak opponents. To have 70 put up on you is… unacceptable. These are the Beavers not Bama!

He throws with too much reliance on his upper body. Very little lower body mechanics. That needs some tweaking.

Good line play on both sides. No secondary and have to watch the game again to see what LBs are, but in real time, nothing this game. I know they're better than tonight.

Leaving the middle of the field wide open isn't just a players thing. I will say Rhedi Short is not playing well. Has looked more lost than any other guy on D tonight. Sure the pass rush hasn't gotten home, but when there are multiple guys wide open 3 seconds after the snap the rush wouldn't solve that too often.

We might have forced a punt or two if he was coaching this defense but I doubt it would be too different.

We didn't face OSU last year and if we would have in game 3 would probably would have gotten blown out as well.

Oh man. Biggest rout in a decade (the Beavers tagged 77 points on Nicholls State in 2012).

I wouldn't be too worried. We're out matched at the skill position level, but we played pretty well imo.
