Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
Did he blow coverage on the TD? It looked like an all out blitz and then he sort of stopped and looked around. He may have just realized he was supposed to be in coverage.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
No wasn't him. You could see two DB's miscommunication and double one WR and leaving another wide open. Troy was blitzing.
Looks like #20 likely blew the coverage.

He just about killed the Jets 4th string QB who decided to sorta not slide.

Reminds me of the WY game.

He was in man coverage vs. RB. That’s why he didn’t blitz hard. Met the RB face up in the hole. He was in the right spotwbtfg wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 8:16 pmNo wasn't him. You could see two DB's miscommunication and double one WR and leaving another wide open. Troy was blitzing.

Definitely not wrong. Doesn't look like he is diagnosing plays very well. Has made up for a couple with his speed though.

Looks like he's thinking a little. It's his first game. Head is probably on a swivel. He's finding out that a wrong step one way means he's behind the play. He got replaced for the 4th quarter.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
I think it’s because the plays aren’t coming too him and we are all watching him directly to make a play. The QB scramble looked bad, but TA was in man coverage and the receiver gave no indication of breaking off the route so TA didn’t turn his head. Kinda no win there…probably needed some communication from teammates or something.
Looks like he’s filling gaps on runs, so it’s hard to know if he’s doing the right fit or not.
He has made some good plays for sure, but I agree it just doesn’t look that great yet.
Looks like he’s not in for the 4th quarter.

His first real game action so I'm sure he will look better next game and the next and so on. You know damn well he'll look at the film and learn from it immediately because that's the kind of player/person he is.

Precisely.
If you watch any All-Pro player exclusively every play, you’re going to see them make mistakes.

He most likely wasn’t going to play the fourth quarter.

Troy looked pretty dang good to me given it's his first ever NFL game. He clearly belongs out there. Louis Riddick has had some very good things to say about him.

I think most of the criticism on here is pretty fair. As noted we were all specifically watching him so we saw perceived mistakes a lot more but he will get better fast. The big thing I noticed was he was biting HARD on play action.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
It wasn't Troy's best game. Imo he's still figuring out NFL linebacker, I mean for god sakes the kid has had less than 2 years at that position it's kinda like he got drafted as sophomore. The game just has to slow down for him and it will, he's too smart and a freak athlete for him to not figure it out.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 12:42 pmI think most of the criticism on here is pretty fair. But once it clicks and slows down... LOOK OUT. Troy looks like a freaking freight train out there, he's going to wreck some people.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
This is an extension of the conversation going back to the senior bowl, pre draft process etc. Troy and Chad muma were being constantly compared and contrasted, and the refrain was always a version of "muma is more experienced and polished as an ILB, troy has the higher upside but will take some time to learn and adjust." He may struggle a little, but not long, and the light will come all the way on some week and away he'll go.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 12:42 pmI think most of the criticism on here is pretty fair. Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
Just like Troy was the 3rd, or maybe 4th best LB on the field first game at Wyoming (Muma, O’Reilly and perhaps Askelson), but was the best by the last game, he will make those leaps again.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
After watching him dominate the defensive game last year one thinks he's not looking that good in the NFL, but he will...

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
Troy is in a tough spot with Falcon fans who are also UGA fans who really wanted Nakobe Dean.
