Davis made himself millions yesterday. He was already a borderline 1st round pick before yesterday, but he should land in the first 16 picks or so now that he has shown he has the physicality to back up his performance. Almost every Georgia star tested well.

It is amazing to me how just how fast Troy can run at at his size when I am watching other receivers and corners at the combine 4.5 and I keep thinking Troy is faster…

It would not shock me to see him go in the 2nd round if a team is needing a linebacker. It

Honest question. If you have a d end on your team that runs a 4.36, do you question the position he is playing? I’m not sure a 4.36 d end translates to huge numbers and I don’t think it did in this case because I have never heard of the kid. Maybe the coaches shouldn’t have packed weight on him to be a d end versus letting him be an athlete as a receiver and out run everybody? I mean the guy is 6’5 and still runs that, can you imagine if he was 6’5 and 220 as a receiver? He would be one of the fastest receiver in the NFL and bigger than any defender.
Maybe he has stonehands...

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

There’s more to being a good football player than just being fast. Anyways, having elite acceleration as an edge is very beneficial. But if you don’t have good technique, it only does so much.

For those wondering, pff defines a "stop" as a tackle where the location is a successful one for the defense. Per them, Troy led the FCS in this stat.

I don’t put much stock into these type of predictions, but this article has Troy going in the 2nd round.

Oh go ahead and put all the stock into Troy going in the 2nd round. He is now firmly in that conversation.

I should have been more specific. I don’t put much stock into specific team predictions, like this, Troy going to Miami. I have no doubt Troy will go in the first three rounds.

I don't put much stock in mock drafts that don't get the player's college team correct.

Mel Kiper thinks he is a 2nd round talent. Todd Mcshay wouldn’t let him get out of the 2nd round … per their First Draft report today..36 minute mark

More fodder from Seahawks with mention of pick 41 (interesting number) in the draft...

At this point, it would be something of an "upset" for Troy *not* to go in the 2nd round.

One other element of this that is nice is that it is very good for recruiting. Allows the coaches to go in even to "reach" prospects and say the NFL will find you if you excel here. 6th and 7th round picks won't really impress a recruit, since those guys are fighting for roster spots, but a 2nd round pick shows that MSU can develop elite talent and the NFL will recognize it.

I'd say the conservative projection is that he'll be taken in the 60s, which means end of 2nd or first few picks of the 3rd. In order for a player to rise as much as Troy has multiple other guys need to fall. He also needs to be the right fit as a 2nd rounder for at least one team. There will likely be other positions of higher need or other LBs that are seen as more ready to play week 1 than Troy just based on his lack of experience at the position. Troy has more upside than just about anyone in the draft but not every team can draft for upside in round 2.

Outside of a couple particular teams I hope he ends up on I just want him to go somewhere than will develop him and make the most of his talents. The pick number isn't that important.

From Peter Kings Football Morning in America Monday column:

Todd McShay’s combine ups, downs
ESPN analyst Todd McShay on the three players whose combine performances moved his needle the most:

Troy Andersen, LB, Montana State. Rising. The former running back and quarterback earned FCS defensive player of the year, had a great showing at the Senior Bowl and just tore up the combine. At 6-3 ½ and 243 pounds, he ran a 4.42 40. I think he’s a day one starter and will be a second-round pick.

And from Sports Illustrated Albert Breer in his Monday Morning QB column:
• A few others whom multiple teams raised as combine winners: Montana State LB Troy Andersen, Washington State OL Abraham Lucas, Central Michigan OL Bernhard Raimann and Tulsa OT Tyler Smith.

Good to see the national exposure for Troy. Excited to see where he lands.

Agree with all this. I get it, it's ALL about the $$ and that will dictate where he ends up, but what I really hope for him is that he doesn't land on a perpetual crappy team and become their franchise linebacker, and spend his entire NFL career as an awesome linebacker on a crappy team that has no real chance of a deep playoff run and possible SB title.

Great time to be a BOBCAT!
