2nd round is a bit rich, but if he runs sub 4.5, somebody might reach. 3rd round is what I’d bet on. Won’t get out of the 4th round though.

Agreed, he's later day 2 I think. Not sure if you're responding to Tom, who said Day 2 not Round 2. And given the time he's had to work on starts and do some speed work, I think he could sneak in a 4.49 type 40. I really do think he's that fast, my only question is whether he can get up to speed fast enough in a 40.

If he runs sub 4.5, that would be insane.

He’s fast. Sprinter fast. I really wouldn’t be surprised if he’s sub 4.5.

I think he’ll struggle (relatively) with the agility drills if he does them.

Which agility drill do you think will give him trouble?

I think the 3 cone drill will be his biggest test. The 5-10-5 is all technique and I'd be willing to bet they spent a lot of time working on the step pattern at Sanford sports. The other shuttle should give him plenty of time to separate himself speed wise versus the other LB's.

I think his biggest struggle will be with the bench due to his shoulder injury. Not sure how much it would have healed in two months.

Likely won't due it until his pro day.

While I tend to agree with you - I think he will land around where Chazz Surratt (another player who transitioned from offense to LB) was selected last year. That was pick #78. If he has a really good combine (I believe he will), you may see him move to the top of the 3rd round or get selected at the bottom of the 2nd round.

However, if you were to design a modern NFL linebacker, it would be in the mold of TA. He just has the speed to drop into coverage and his size and length will be a strength. It will be pretty difficult for an NFL franchise to grab TA over Devin Lloyd (Utah), Nakobe Dean (Georgia), Brandon Smith (Penn State), and perhaps Chad Muma (Wyoming), Brian Asamoah (Oklahoma), or Darrian Beavers (Cincinnati) if looking for a LB that can excel in coverage, though, as they have demonstrated this capacity at a higher level. Other LB - Leo Chenal (Wisconsin) and Christian Harris (Alabama) - will be drafted for other skill sets.

I think that Andersen's ceiling is of an elite LB in the mold of Fred Warner. Given that he was coached by the Jets staff at the senior bowl (HC Robert Saleh was the DC in SF), my hunch is that he doesn't make it past pick 68...

I’ve just never seen him as being that good in the side to side part of his game. Excellent straight line, average in the laterals. Not saying he’s bad at all, just saying what I see.

He really improved his lateral movement throughout his career. Shedding blocks was a clear problem for him this past season but senior bowl tape already proved he's getting better at beating blocks. Troy is such a fast learner which is why any coaching staff should pounce on him sooner than later in the draft. I really think he is going late round 2/early round 3.

The only way I see him not having a successful career as a starting NFL LB is if his injuries continue to add up because in terms of size, brains, and athleticism, he’s the complete package as he gains experience with (hopefully) a solid and stable defensive coaching staff. I could see him playing alongside Micah Parsons in Dallas as their styles complement each other well.

We should start a betting pool on what he runs!

I have zero knowledge to base this guess on. But I'm going with a 4.48. On kick coverage during the Senior Bowl, he wasn't just the first guy down the field. He was also the quickest off the line in the 1st 10 yards. So I bet he goes sub 4.5

the offensive lineman turned in some impressive times. If he goes sub 4.5 that will be pretty amazing I say 4.52 would still impress.

I feel like I remember a play where Andersen was on pace to run down Pierre Strong, who just ran a 4.37

I’m gonna go with 4.43 for Troy. Which would be a stupid crazy number.

Geezus, he's 242#. If he breaks 4.6 it will turn every scouts head in the country. I'm saying 4.58 and that will land him solidly in the second round of the draft.
