I like him. In an interview format I see a lot more Rob Ash and less Jeff Choate but that doesn't mean much. I look forward to hopefully him leading the Cats to the next level.Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 3:41 pmNew #MSUBobcatsFB coach Brent Vigen hosted his first press conference earlier today. I like him also. No one will be exactly like Choate, but that is ok. His coaching philosophy is perfect for MSU. He also seems like a player’s coach similar to Choate. I think this is a great hire.LTown Cat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 4:39 pmI like him. In an interview format I see a lot more Rob Ash and less Jeff Choate but that doesn't mean much. Remember, he coached under Bohl who coached under Osbourne at Nebraska. This is as smash mouth control the line of scrimmage as it comes. I love this hire. He may not say we are going to bite you in the knee cap but at the end of a game, he wants to dominate.

His offense wore down a very stout MSU defense in that 2010 playoff game where their run game broke us in the 4th quarter on the way to a 42-17 victory.Purrfection Cat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 7:03 pmRemember, he coached under Bohl who coached under Osbourne at Nebraska. Found it interesting he had a chat with Choate. One benefit with Choate moving up is the communication channels will still be open. Especially as a “concerned parent”.

At the 17:50 mark he was talking about quarterbacks and and mentioned the guys here and "Sean on his way in" referring to Sean Austin from Kuna ID.
I found that interesting. It was also pretty neat what he said about his dad and how the real value that coaching brought to his life was the impact he had in developing young men and what it meant to the community. He gets it. Of course he'll have to get results on the field too. Looking forward to seeing what he puts together for a staff.

The wrenchhead in me wishes Brent had two G's in his last name... The Saab Viggen was a very cool STOL (short take off and landing) fighter used for many years by the Swedish air force. "Viggen" in Swedish loosely tranlates to "The Thunderbolt".

Also, the Saab Viggen sport coupe - complete with yellow stylized thunderbolt decals on each fender, hence the "born from jets" catchphrase - was one of the last truly Saab designed and built cars before the GM takeover, and was a pretty cool car in it's own right.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Strong post about the impact of young men (21:55) - I thought the same thing. This is one of the areas that make guys run through walls, regardless of the tone of the message.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 11:02 pmAt the 17:50 mark he was talking about quarterbacks and and mentioned the guys here and "Sean on his way in" referring to Sean Austin from Kuna ID.

Very humble guy. I think there is a truly intense and competitive dude behind those well spoken words. I coach business executives and have learned to focus on certain words when they are not just business/football cliches. He mentioned talking with Choate (great thing to speed up the transition) and mentioned "By no means is anybody going to tell me what to do". We were spoiled with Coach Choate's demeanor but believe we have a great leader in Coach Vigen.

Would it kill MSU to figure out how to make the reporters questions audible? Have no idea what question is being asked half the time.

Go to :27 in the clip. Brent is much taller than I expected. Keep in mind Cole Moore (who he is chatting with) is 6'2". Does this matter? No...just an observation.

Good catch, I missed that the first time. So in the QB room off the top of my head we'll have Austin, Mellott, Thelen, McKay, Bauman, and Rovig? Anyone else I'm missing?Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 11:02 pmAt the 17:50 mark he was talking about quarterbacks and and mentioned the guys here and "Sean on his way in" referring to Sean Austin from Kuna ID.
