Re: Brent Vigen - New Bobcat Head Coach
As I remember the last few years were not 3-3-3-punt... More like 6-5-16-18-9-33-PAT!!!

Re: Brent Vigen - New Bobcat Head Coach
Vigen is just right for us. I don't know why these P5 coordinators put in for FCS jobs anyway. They want their position and their old pay too! I don't know what they think will happen...we'll go to the safe and pull out an extra $100,000 or so just because that's how much they expect?
Most of them are just trying to get a raise or promotion from their present team. I think we got the best of the second tier. Just about where our program fits. Of course we couldn't get a big time name like Bobby Hauck. A retread who couldn't make it in the FBS. I noticed he's not as cocky this time around. Then add the 0-2 with the Cats....he's just about at the end of his rope!

I do not like Bobby Hauck, but I do not agree he was a bad hire for the griz. I cannot deny the success he enjoyed in his first stint. Hiring him was much less risky then giving someone their first HC opportunity. If the Cats had coach who was as successful here, failed at the next level and was available, I would be all for bringing him back.Helcat72 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 1:42 pmVigen is just right for us. Besides, Bobby is so much fun to beat.

Re: Brent Vigen - New Bobcat Head Coach
To be fair, the cost of living in Bozeman is now stupid ridiculous. In some ways I can understand that the other candidates that were offered wanted a lot more than we were offering, but the Board better figure out how to allocate funds for MSU cause its just going to get more expensive and we won't be able to keep anyone here. They should just shutdown that junior college in Missoula can dedicate everything to MSU.Helcat72 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 1:42 pmVigen is just right for us. I agree! I hereby propose a measure that requires any out of staters that buy houses, property, or businesses in Gallatin County to pay a 5% tax on said purchase that goes directly to coaches' salaries at THE Montana State University.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 2:03 pmTo be fair, the cost of living in Bozeman is now stupid ridiculous. So the new OC was just a graduate assistant 2 years ago. A little nervous for that...

He’s learned from a very good offensive mind the past couple years.

This may indicate Vigen will plan to call plays?

We could probably keep in mind our offensive coordinator before Udy was 27 at the time with GA experience at Boise State for a year and WR coach at a FCS school for two years.

Don't use logic on me. It's not fair!VimSince03 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:36 pmWe could probably keep in mind our offensive coordinator before Udy was 27 at the time with GA experience at Boise State for a year and WR coach at a FCS school for two years.

I thought of that too as I typed out my initial comment. So I know it's possible.

Really really like the way Vigen commands the room already. I think the guy is a natural as a head coach. Time will tell as always.
However, this was my initial reaction to the video: "You're not Jeff Choate."

Griz lost their dominance when the cats started making inroads to recruiting more Montana kids.

Dude. Same. I was watching that remembering Gunnar saying how this was the coach he always wanted to play for, and thinking about all those men in the room listening to that had been coached by Choate.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 7:43 pm

That has to be a tough moment for those guys. Most probably loved playing for Choate. I’m sure over time he’ll win them over, but you have to empathize for a moment.lutecat wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 8:07 pmDude. Same.
