Well, he’s no fly sweep genius from DII or former coach returning home from national FBS humiliation, but I guess he’ll have to do.

Hopefully he’s as intense as his brother. His brother is John Cena isn’t it?

Too early for a look a like thread?

Another thing to think about here: Vigen has been an OC since 2009. He has seen the highest of highs and lowest of lows at different times in his career. He's had to adapt to different personnel but has only ever had one head coach, Craig Bohl. The philosophy has always been driven from what Bohl ultimately wants to do. Now we get to see what Brent wants to establish himself. I wanted a head coach with experience being a coordinator at either the FCS or FBS level and we got just that. Vigen knows what a championship caliber team looks like and now its up to him to get MSU to that level.

First, we aren’t hiring him to be the OC.

Second, there is no reason his offense couldn’t be successful at MSU anyway. Where MSU is in the national FCS landscape vs where Wyoming is in theirs is night and day. We probably have the more relative hogs to get it done than he ever did at Wyo.

From ndsu and Wyoming boards - sounds like we are going back to Solomon years...enjoyed the ride while it lasted.
Well at least you gave him a shot.

As a member of the 1982 MSU Intramural Indoor Whiffleball Championship Team, I approve of Coach Vigen as our next coach.

It’ll be interesting to see if he’s going to call the plays or not. Lots of offensive coaches like to do that.

As a long time Bobcat season ticket holder I am totally pleased with the hire.

Welcome to Bozeman Coach!

Good luck, Vigen had ONE good year of Offense at UW and it was in 2016 with Josh Allen(QB) and Brian Hill(RB). WRs were previous staffs recruits as well. Just look at Overall NCCA FBS offensive ranks during his tenure..........horrible! I guess as a Wyoming fan we are going to find out if it was Vigen or if it is Bohls philosophy. But Wyoming fans arent sad to see him go, if he is indeed the MSU hire. Good luck and see you in Laramie for first game of the year.
This is an example of my favorite flawed fan logic that exists. I’m sure Bohl just sat back helplessly as Vigen ran the offense into the ground #-o
That is exactly what happened! It was mind boggling how Bohl didn’t get rid of him based on lack of offensive production. Bohl has had 3 Defensive Coordinators hired away to P5 schools. Bohl knows Defense and wants to run the ball.....but the passing game other than 2016 has been non existent. If it was Vigens doing then get used to the 3 yards and a cloud of dust, your WRs and TEs will be nothing more than blockers. If you have good offensive numbers then we will know it was Bohls doing. Good luck and Vigen is a good guy. Wish him and the Cats nothing but good luck and kick Griz ass!!!

I went to school with vigen and drank beers with him and his wife molly, shes awesome!
however, vigen was the 1 coach at NDSU that we all loathed as a play caller. that's legit the only knock on him, maybe he will be a CEO type like Craig Bohl has been....thats the advice I would give him and he'd succeed at that.

I don't see him bringing in NDSU coaches, but i see 2-3 on Wyomings staff w NDSU backgrounds he might convince to come with.

he's really good buds with Tyler Roehl NDSU OC.

Those fairies over on egriz are gonna cream their pants if it’s true. They will probably have 10 pages of really clever name jokes. When your unemployed and your only shot at a job is handing out the free Biden checks, I suppose you have a lot of spare time to try and get clever.
I'm sure you are going to turn down the money, right?

Also, can we all agree that it's pretty ****** to hijack this board with unnecessary politics? And your anti-LGBTQ speech is not welcome here or anywhere. I'd invite you to go take your commentary to Parler, but...
Take your political commentary elsewhere.

Just remember folks, he's been hired as the HC, not the OC. It's his job to captain the ship and hire the right guys for the right jobs. Not call plays.

I hope so, even if people in the past did like his play calling. I prefer when a HC lets the OC take most of that responsibility

I remember when we won 3 national championships in a row and rolled over everyone but we really hated our OC for only scoring 30 points per game.

Could you imagine if we would have had Sean McVay and score 37 points per game!!

Then I’d be happy.

We are built to win right now. I believe keeping the majority of our staff in place was made clear. I would hope that his mindset is work with what he has been given. If we bring the NDSU defensive philosophy on board, that is a good thing. I would hope that he and Uddy can break bread and find common ground. We will need WR coach and D Coordinator, those will be key hires. If he has developed QB’s then he will use and QB and throw the ball. I like the hire.
