Smartest move they could make. And in a way I think it was both of their ways of telling the big sky conference screw you for not playing in the fall. They were both pretty vocal that they should have been playing all along.
I think this is very true. Choate and Hauck aren't dummies.
Now my only fear is our stupid health department still won't allow fans this fall either....
This is the real concern. I've been worried about this for months and I don't have any confidence in their ability to assess the risks (or lack thereof) of having fans attend games in an outdoor stadium.
Totally agree. It's my biggest fear. It's become so politicized and has divided everyone. Hell, if you think bars should stay open after 10pm you're selfish and get accused of wanting people to die!
It'd be nice if after 18 months of this, when football starts, vaccinations etc. we could be to a point where adults are allowed to assess the risks and make their own decisions. And those that deem the risks are still too high, can simply not be one of the people who venture out to restaurants and sporting events.
"The safety of our students is always our No. 1 priority at Montana State," Cruzado said. "This decision was difficult, but it will help ensure our student-athletes are as safe and healthy as possible when they do take to the field again. We are proud of their hard work and look forward to cheering them on."
So we're still going to play games in the spring when Choate doesn't even like full speed practices in the spring. I don't know how it helps ensure they are as safe and healthy as possible when they will be taking the field again in (likely) March and if they get hurt that will still have an impact when the games that count starting in September. We also still won't be able to cheer them on in person until September at the earliest. The statement had a lot of nice sounding words but ultimately they decided they couldn't afford a 6+ game season without fans. I wish they would just come out and say that instead of this PR-speak statement.
They’re going to have a maximum of 2 glorified scrimmages. It will be hardly any different than a normal spring schedule. This doesn’t have very much to do with not having fans for the spring season. It’s about prioritizing the fall season.

As long as Matt Kelley is allowed to do whatever the heck he wants with no oversight, I don’t think you’re going to see any changes.

I see with Montana going red recently, that things are already changing. There’s some legislation being heard today about how much say the health department really has in these situations and the new attorney general said they need to dismiss the recent case against the Rockin R bar. Maybe some of this common sense will trickle into the fall

This is true. There's a chance as early as tonight some of these businesses will forgo the 10pm closing nonsense but we'll see. Some of us can only hope!

Completely agree. But I don't care about lives and really just want to see people die. It's the ONLY explanation!

One of the dark pinks posted they heard Choate announced in practice yesterday the Spring season would consist of two scrimmages. No idea if true but it's what I've been predicting all along.
I appreciate the information. I don't understand why it always has to be about you.
Probably because I'm often wrong about things so on the rare occasion when I'm right I damn sure want people to know about it!

Okay, Ken.
I'm intrigued! Who's Ken?
The male Karen.
Oh gotcha. I'm not that hip.
I'm just basing that statement off the comments in all the Gianforte, Attorney General, R-Bar stuff I've read the last couple days. If you want fewer restrictions, in some peoples eyes that means you don't care if people die.
Choate says short turnaround to fall 2021 season "isn’t being talked about enough." Emphasizes that lack of recovery time would be a challenge.
But people like 1AA fan assured me the players could handle it no problem!
Ya, what a surprise about the short turnaround time being a problem? I sort of came around to the idea of doing this season but only playing 3rd and 4th stringers but even that was a silly idea. I still think this was a crappy way to go about this and for the powers that be for UM and MSU pretending like there was going to be a Spring season so players stuck around rather than entering the transfer portal.

Why is there this idea that players weren’t going to transfer because of a spring season? The players don’t want to play in a spring season!
I just don’t get where this idea became so prevalent. It doesn’t make any logical sense.
