Interesting that Choate apparently wants to both take Udy with him and also retain Matt Miller on Boise's staff. Which of the two would be the OC?Cledus wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 8:09 amIt sounds like Choate is the front runner and if he’s offered and accepts, he’s expected to take Udy and Hout with him.

Good question, I don't know. I would say Udy would be the OC but I'm just guessing.MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 8:18 amInteresting that Choate apparently wants to both take Udy with him and also retain Matt Miller on Boise's staff. I'm saying Dickey is going to Bozeman first to inform Choate in person that they are going to hire Avalos, then on to Eugene to hire Avalos in person.

I like your thinking. No idea if it’s right, but I hope so.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:36 amI'm saying Dickey is going to Bozeman first to inform Choate in person that they are going to hire Avalos, then on to Eugene to hire Avalos in person.

That's an awfully expensive trip for something that would be entirely appropriate to do over the phone.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:36 amI'm saying Dickey is going to Bozeman first to inform Choate in person that they are going to hire Avalos, then on to Eugene to hire Avalos in person.
More likely, the AD wants to meet face-to-face with Choate and Avalos before making his decision.

Unfortunately for us, as soon as he meets Choate he won't make the trip to Eugene. Choate will win the interview.

I'm saying he is going to Bozeman to offer the position and sign a contract, then to Eugene to tell Avalos they filled the position.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:36 amI'm saying Dickey is going to Bozeman first to inform Choate in person that they are going to hire Avalos, then on to Eugene to hire Avalos in person.

Re: Choate to interview for Boise State job
What a meteoric rise for Udy, if this all happens. From a D3 WR coach > D2 WR Coach & Rec Cord > one season as a D1 administrative assistant > QC assistant at TxTech > OC for MSU w/ 0 games > OC at Boise. Hard to believe that can happen.

Re: Choate to interview for Boise State job
Assuming Matt Miller stays at Boise would Udy really jump him for the OC job? It seems like he'd be more likely to take the QB or WR coach job. MM has a lot more sideline experience. I could actually see Choate going outside for OC and keeping MM and Udy as position coaches.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Might be a final in-person interview.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:51 amAccording to other reports Choate interviewed Monday and Avalos on Tuesday.Montanabob wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:50 amI think it is for the interview.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:36 amI'm saying Dickey is going to Bozeman first to inform Choate in person that they are going to hire Avalos, then on to Eugene to hire Avalos in person.

Re: Choate to interview for Boise State job
Yeah, jobs like these aren't single interview jobs. Interviews sometimes last for entire days, with lots of meetings, meals, etc. After the interviews, the people doing the hiring have lots more meetings, then there are more interviews. I don't think today is "the interview", but it could be one of them. The fact that they're going to Bozeman and Eugene makes me think this is decision time.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:53 amMight be a final in-person interview.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:51 amAccording to other reports Choate interviewed Monday and Avalos on Tuesday.Montanabob wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:50 amI think it is for the interview.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:36 amI'm saying Dickey is going to Bozeman first to inform Choate in person that they are going to hire Avalos, then on to Eugene to hire Avalos in person.

Re: Choate to interview for Boise State job
Definitely could be. I wouldn't think Dickey would be flying to both places for anything less. I'm just hopeful he's being classy and telling Choate the job isn't his before he moves on to Eugene.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:53 amMight be a final in-person interview.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:51 amAccording to other reports Choate interviewed Monday and Avalos on Tuesday.Montanabob wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:50 amI think it is for the interview.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 10:36 amI'm saying Dickey is going to Bozeman first to inform Choate in person that they are going to hire Avalos, then on to Eugene to hire Avalos in person.

Udy would be the OC. Maybe they would do the Co-OC thing, but Udy would be calling the plays.Cledus wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 9:42 amGood question, I don't know. Re: Choate to interview for Boise State job
Auburn hired Derek Mason to be their DC, which is good news for us. I had heard that Harsin was also looking at Andy Avalos.
So at the very least, it means that Avalos is still a viable option for Boise.
