Re: NEW OC NAMES?
Erickson did coach in the AAF. I don't know if that moves the needle or not. A lot of the sports youtubers I watch were super hyped about the league, but I don't know if the recruits care about it or not because I don't talk to recruits. I would think that just being able to say "this guy was an NFL head coach" should count for something, but again, I don't talk to recruits.bobcat99 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 10:45 amGenuine question.
How many of these kids do you think have heard of Dennis? He has a fantastic resume, but his best stuff was done 20-30 years ago.
Telling them that he's a HOF coach is without a doubt impressive, but I have my doubts about a 72 year old coach coming out of retirement having a big effect on recruiting.

Re: NEW OC NAMES?
He went back to UI as head coach in 2006 and went 4-8. Didn't stay but the one year.

You make it sound like Dennis was run off at UI. He left to coach Arizona State.

He probably wouldn’t wow too many players, but he sure would get the attention of their coaches. He would surely get phone calls returned.bobcat99 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 10:45 amGenuine question.

Re: NEW OC NAMES?
It's a great question. Hypthically I would think kids might respect an older guy, his knowledge, been there done that, insight and knowledge a little more. A younger coach could relate to them more. Coaching and recruiting comes down to trust, and believing in that system.bobcat99 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 10:45 amGenuine question.

Re: NEW OC NAMES?
Simply mention that your OC was formerly the head coach of the 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Hurricanes, Oregon State and Arizona State, I am guessing that will woo kids... Seriously, does any HEAD COACH in the Big Sky have that kind of “cache”? It is not even close....BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 12:05 pmErickson did coach in the AAF. I saw Choate at the R-bar a few hours ago. Should have asked him who he chose for the position.

It's February so there's nothing else to talk about. It's either this or scrutinizing the verbal commits based on highlight tapes filmed with a shaky iphone. Talking about the coaches seems like the high road.

I think it's going to be Troy as a player and coach. He'll be the OC and then run out and play LB on D.arvcat2 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 7:42 pmYeah, can someone please start another never ending quarterback or Troy Andersen thread pleaseBLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 6:35 pmIt's February so there's nothing else to talk about.
