Yes VIM, totally agree..

Reminds me of a couple weeks ago when my YANKEES, yes a YANKEE fan since probably 1951, and were 1-3 at the red sox house. Had to win the last game in the series to prevent being swept. Some fans were jumping off buildings as they were sure the world had ended. This past week the YANKEES swept the dreaded sox in the House That Ruth Built... Nowhere are those same fans to be found. Three days does not a season make... Our CATS will be fine.....

Sad. He's the best coach we've had here in some time. We were on a very rapid decline before he got here.

Primary reason why I'm not worried about any of this is because I 100% believe in Matt Miller. He is a laser-focused competitor and coach and understands how to attack a defense. We will be fine. Jumping to conclusions after three days of non-padded practice is a time to step back from the ledge and go have a beer or beverage of your choice.

And also, a poster earlier made a great point about the defense being talented, specifically in the secondary. Well, that's because they are and they are going to give young QB's headaches. But guess what? Both played pretty damn good yesterday so lets just let it all play out.

I'm just happy to have some real football news to read, looking forward to the season and am optimistic. Thanks for all your incite Vim, whenever I see something negative or that may look bad I go to find what your thoughts are on it, it usually turns out right.

At this point, these are the horses we have, and one thing Choate has shown is that he is willing to make changes to become more competitive with the personnel he has. I'm high on our young coordinators and think they will get the team coached up and surprise a lot of people this year with their abilities.

Last year Rovig was 42-68-2, 584 yards and four TDs. (147.4) Take the first half of the SDSU game out and he was 36-55-0, 562 yards and three touchdowns. (165.7) Take out the Wagner game and he’s 13-19-1, 252 yards and one TD. (186.7).

He had one bad half (the 1st half) of football in his first start on the road against a very good team. Even if you take out the easy Wagner stats, he’s still rates very high.

Side note: don’t feed the troll.

Once Rovig got into some good passing down and distances he took off. 1st and 10. 2nd and 5<. Similar to what Colter said MSU has had a few dynamic QBs since 2002. Rovig and Bauman aren’t like that. Lulay, McGhee and Prukop could severely beat you with arms and legs. They were bundles of energy capable of throwing or running for touchdowns from anywhere on the field at any time. It’s a style thing.

Your right. It is just all these conflicting camp reports that is causing some anxiety I think. Just say ... RELAX people

Exactly. There are numerous positive reports, but one says negative and almost everyone freaks out.

To be fair, that one negative is from a couple of very trusted and unbiased reporters that do this for a job and have been around a lot of football.
The positives have mostly been from Cat fans that will inherently have some built in bias.

but, I do not think it’s time to panic, it’s far too early for that and I do think they’ll be fine in the long run.

Didn't that same "Trusted and unbiased reporters" pick the griz to win last year and the year before and the year before that? Just pointing out that even they can make a mistake at times.

I think everyone needs to settle a little bit.
I haven’t seen anyone say Choate should be fired.
I haven’t seen anyone say the season is lost.
The only person in the last few pages of this thread that has implied we’re screwed is grizaddict, and frankly who gives a s*** about that opinion.

I simply stated that it wasn’t the most encouraging breakdown of our QB position, made by a couple of people that do this for a living and are generally correct more often than not.

Could they be wrong? Of course. We’re 3 days into camp. There is a ton of football yet to be played even before the first game.

It is not time to panic. It was just worth noting that the QB’s could have looked better in the first few days. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don’t need you to believe me. I know what I know, and it’s in conversating with fans very connected to your program. And right now that’s that the defense may be one of the best defenses the cats have ever put on the field but that the QBs are really struggling to do much of anything. They are worried the QB situation will hold this team back, again.
