Tour de France

Post by Common Cat » Tue Jul 16, 2019 4:18 pm

Any of you guys/gals Tour fans like myself? I’m starting a thread here to post any Tour news and talk. Who do you think will end up in yellow? What jersey do you take interest in?

I think Thomas wins again, but I love watching Sagan! Some great young talent on display this year with Alaphillipe & Van Aert!

I probably think you’re right. And if Thomas crashes, Ineos will protect Bernal (my pre race favorite). It’s been fun watching Alaphillippe so far - but don’t think he has the legs for the long climbs coming up.

Thanks for starting this. I got interested in watching a few years ago because of Teejay. Thomas will be tough but things seem to happen. Sagan — last year, the way he hung in on some of the mountain days when the other sprinters had run out of gas way early, was unbelievable.

Watching the Tour is a significant part of my July every year. I love it. It would be cool to see a French guy win it since that hasn't happened in so long, but Pinot blew his chance just before the rest day...on a flat stage! Maybe Alaphillipe will surprise everybody in the mountains. He sure has animated the race.

Ewen masterfully picked up his fist win! Wow thought Groudevegen(sp*) had it with his lead out man there. Wow! No changes in classifications. Tomorrow might begin the change up in the GC. Ineos has been biding their time waiting for the mountains.

With the right cocktails, Lance could still beat them.

Some Lance-aritas would do.

Time trial tomorrow. Do you think Thomas will put some time in on Allaphilppe?

The biggest question now, is if Alllaphillipe can be dropped by the best mountain climbers in the tour including Thomas. He has continued to surprise me and Im not going to second guess his abilities anymore!

That'd be a big fat NO! What a ride by the Frenchy. I'm pulling for the guy. Gonna be a tough one tomorrow over the Tourmalet.

I hope so. But there's a long ways to go and his team might not be strong enough to control things. Movistar really blew things up today-including their own leader! That really played into Allaphilppe's hands.

Alaphillipe has 1:30 with two stages to fend off attacks. IMO- he just needs to be on the wheel over the climbs tomorrow and he’s got it.
