Is that what really happened? If so that has to be one of the funniest stories in this great rivalry, football or basketball.hokeyfine wrote:He's the cats guest for the cat/griz game, sitting on the end of the bench. pope drives and slams it home, larry jumps up and applauds. coaches and the bench turn and look. afterwards msu coach says, i hope you'll consider msu.

I was attending MSU at the time and worked in the Hedges food service as a cashier (beeper boy). I knew who Larry was and also a handful of Basketball players. The Basketball team had lunch at hedges cafeterias that day. I talked with Phil Layer (I am pretty sure it was Phil) as he left and he said this Krystowiak player from Missoula is going to be a good player and we are going to steal him from Montana. Jump ahead a few hour, Derek Pope gets a monstrous slam and this guy in street clothes sitting on the Bobcat bench is whooping it up almost sanding on the playing court. I was plugged into my walkman listening to Dean Alexander while I watched. Dean was trying to figure out what Bobcat player was celebrating the dunk on the bench.anacondagriz wrote:Is that what really happened?
