The real issue I have now is who the hell is going to get the job? IMO I would never accept a job I was the #2 candidate for (especially if it was announced someone already got it). This could turn out very badly for us.

Not to be a jerk, but Choate accepted his job as a second choice correct? The guy from Missouri was the number 1 and shot it down. This kind of thing probably happens more often than we realize. Maybe the next guy will be a better fit and Cats will be better off for it.

You have to start a new search. You can include the original candidates if they are willing, but you can't just go back with your hat in your hands asking if they want the job. Not a chance.

Imagine the flood of angry calls/emails/texts Waded is getting today. Poor lady. This has to be one of the biggest d-bag moves I've ever seen in any business. Pound sand.

If he declines then I think you start over. WOW! Frustrating. I'll be honest I didn't like the guy to begin with. Don't know why but he was actually my last choice of the finalists.

I believe he was Cruzado's though . . . I think Brennan was Cruzado's as well . . . But thats just speculation.

Either way, I hope we can get a guy in place soon.

Hell, this story might make ESPN tonight. Its so asinine, I can't imagine in recent history anything close to this, in regards to a new AD or head coach backing out after the ceremony.

You absolutely offer #2. If their main goal is to be an AD then they will still accept. Even if they weren't the #1 choice. As people have said, Choate wasn't choice #1 and neither was Ash. Granted somebody didn't take the job 1st then say nevermind but still you have to go to #2 before anything else.

Not comfortable with some of the best public schools in the country? Was concerned he couldn't find housing? Lame. Who applies for a job, and doesn't at least do a little research on what the out of work environment is like. There is more to this than just where to live, what schools to go to. I'm betting those are not his only reasons for bailing. Be a man, don't blame it on your wife and kids.

UNLV basketball coach accepted the job and then went to Texas A&M about a week and a half later.

What an extremely odd thing to do. I assume he wants to be an AD at some point in his future. He has to know that this stunt will close the door on those hopes for quite a while. I'd be very concerned as to why he made this decision when the cost to his own reputation and career is so obvious.

Keep in mind his son is battling cancer. Things can come up suddenly and they're life altering. He may not have wanted to say anything about it, but that may be the entire reason.
