Re: 2013- All Time Bobcat Records- week 5
updated from NDU- big gains in numerous categories by Kirk (5 tds will do that), Bleskin, McGhee, Daly.
Couple other guys to keep an eye on, one I noticed is Taylor Sheridan who now has 4.5 sacks, at this rate he will break into the top 10 list for sacks in a season.

Re: 2013- All Time Bobcat Records- week 5
Sheridan's sack total is already more than Minter had last season. At this rate, he'll surpass Minter's 11 TFL, 7.5 sacks he had as a JR that earned him All-America honors.mslacatfan wrote:updated from NDU- big gains in numerous categories by Kirk (5 tds will do that), Bleskin, McGhee, Daly.

I don't think that is accurate.... Where are you getting 2,900 yards?

Re: 2013- All Time Bobcat Records- week 5
From MSU yesterday:
* Cody Kirk's five touchdowns against North Dakota matched MSU's single-game school record shared by Don Hass in 1966 and Michael Jefferson in 2006. He raised his career rushing total to 2,985 career yards, 12 from second place in school history (currently occupied by Steve Kracher) and 15 yards from becoming the second Bobcat ever to gain 3,000 yards on the ground. The senior from Frenchtown has 39 touchdowns on the ground and 40 total in his career.
Now that I look at it though, Kirk had 2,334 yards at the beginning of the season and has 336 yards this season, so I think your total is correct.

Now that I look at it though, Kirk had 2,334 yards at the beginning of the season and has 336 yards this season, so I think your total is correct.
well, let me know if you confirm either way? I got my stats from the annual Stats/records release on the MSU athletics website.

Re: 2013- All Time Bobcat Records- week 5
The correction from MSU:
On a night when quarterback DeNarius McGhee's return dominated the pregame chatter, Cody Kirk dominated on the field. The senior running back turned in a record-setting performance in playing just the first two quarters of Montana State's 63-20 win at North Dakota Saturday. Kirk carried 13 times for 112 yards, and five of his carries ended in the end zone. The five touchdowns ties a school record held by Don Hass (1966, all rushes) and Michael Jefferson (2006 - three catches, two rushes), and raises the Frenchtown Freight Train's school record total to 39 rushing TDs and 40 total scores. Kirk's 112 rushing yards raises his career total to 2,678. Saturday's game marked the 12th in his career in which Kirk has gained at least 100 yards on the ground.

Coach Ash now has 230 career wins. He moved ahead of Jim Tressel into 39th place all time with the win over NAU. He's fifth among active DI coaches.

Radio announcers said Kirk went over 3,000 yds. Not so???mslacatfan wrote:updated from NAU-
Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

They were probably going off the MSU release that was corrected. It had Kirk with more yards than he has.catscat wrote:Radio announcers said Kirk went over 3,000 yds. Not so???mslacatfan wrote:updated from NAU-

yeah, for some reason msu released some stats that were not accurate. The stats that I have posted in this thread are the correct numbers for kirk. He will not have 3,000 yards until next gamecatscat wrote:Radio announcers said Kirk went over 3,000 yds. Not so???mslacatfan wrote:updated from NAU-

Okay, so I guess the scenario is that Cody Kirk will be the first D 1, FCS, BSC, and MSU player to break 3,000 yards rushing twice.mslacatfan wrote:yeah, for some reason msu released some stats that were not accurate. Re: 2013- All Time Bobcat Records- week 8
updated from the Weber game-
McGhee moved up several lists, as did Kirk/Daly/bleskin
I added in the tackles for loss column (which Daly is just outside of for both Career and Season)
Go Cats!

This is one thread I eagerly await an update each week. It's hard to imagine a running back in my lifetime who will eclipse the Kirkster.

Looks like Cody should get the #2 spot next week if he has an average (for him) game! I think he only needs like 55 or so yards (I didn't memorize it when i looked at the list
) And only 79 yards to the 3000 yard milestone!
Edit: I double checked. He only needs 59 yards for sole possession of 2nd place!

Re: 2013- All Time Bobcat Records- week 8
Kirk went over the 3,000-yard plateau. He now has 3,040 yards and moved into second place all-time passing Don Haas and Steve Kracher. He's only the second player in school history to hit 3,000. He needs 606 to catch Ryan Johnson. There are four regular season games remaining. Playoff games, should MSU make it, will count toward his career total.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).
