"Redemption Tour"

Post by classicat » Thu Sep 05, 2013 9:50 am

I saw this sentence in a Great Falls Trib article and it just made me chuckle..."The Grizzlies are off this week before the Redemption Tour continues Sept. 14 in Grand Forks, N.C."

Bob Meseroll of the Missoulian referred to the NCAA penalties as a "slap on the wrist." Odd how it can be a slap on the wrist, but Engstrom did a bad job negotiating a better deal, according to O'Day and Pflugrad.

I just thought it funny that their season has a title other than "football season"

Jesse Gelensee is another grizz fan/grad working at a newspaper. So he probably thinks this gets him on the roster. Honestly though, how do you redeem yourself from all crap they've done? "Yeah we may have players in jail and got caught cheating, but if we make the playoffs everything's cool!"

Duh! Beau Donaldson, Badger, and Jason Washington. But you just keep that head buried in the sand. Probably a few others (Coleman, Pate, Sheldon) unless they've been let out. Aren't you glad you asked?

How does one become an "internet tough guy?" Is there a class you take, a seminar, or a pamphlet?

I think you don't get it. Sleeping in until 6 won't get many people very far in life, especially if they want to play on Sunday.

I must have missed where they were still on the roster.

Do we get to count your drug traffickers and murderers, too?

The point is, they're former Griz players, just like the criminals I mentioned.

Hash tags, really? I didn't realize there were 16 year old girls posting on this forum, although I can't say I'm surprised.

You're the one doing the name calling. What was it? Oh yeah, numbnuts. Good one. I'm just providing you with info, which you're in short supply of.

Donaldson is a former player NOW. Not when he got in trouble. That's his point.
Just clarifying for you.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

To be fair, the "redemption tour" moniker is an invention of a reporter of the Great Falls Tribune. I don't know if he is UM grad or not. Doesn't matter to me. The tribune is going the way of all newspapers. New grads at low wages doing more with less and the quality of work shows. They covered the shrine game and didn't realize until Saturday night that there had actually been changes made in the rosters. My nephew was an alternate from CMR that was called up later and they didn't even know that until Saturday. Newspapers are a dying breed. No one buys them, advertising is falling off, therefore the quality of the product suffers. Redemption tour is about as gay as it gets.

Actually Geleynse went to Washington State not UM, but Meditate (the other newbie) is a UM alum, although I agree that they both come off as Griz homers sometimes. I was pretty down on both of them when they first started. I've come to believe that Geleynse is a fairly good writer though, but Mediate...not so much. The overall quality of the Tribune Sports section has declined significantly, and certainly the new writers can't be blamed for all of that. I used to think it was easily the best Sports section of any Montana newspaper, and I'm not sure that's still true, although maybe the quality of the others has also deteriorated proportionately. I don't read any of the others very often anymore. In fact the Tribune has declined in general over the past couple of years, not just the Sports section. I used to get mad at Geise sometimes for being such a Griz homer, but he and Towne were very good writers, and are greatly missed.
