MSU @ SMU

Post by Rich K » Sun Feb 17, 2013 12:00 pm

Southern Methodist plays their home games at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in University Park, Texas.

Capacity is 32,000. Record attendance is 36,742 against TCU in 2010 in the Armed forced Bowl against the Army Black Nights.
Long term plans are to expand the seating to over 65,000.

Last year SMU blasted SF Austin 52-0 in an evening game on September 8th attendance was 20,122. Temperature at game time was 84F with 10mph winds. It was broadcast by TWC Texas. At the time SF Austin was ranked #19 in FCS. The following week SF Austin came to Bozeman and lost.

Here's a SMU Fan Forum that is active: http://www.ponyfans.com/phpBB3/viewtopi ... =1&t=65392" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Southern Methodist will be playing in the Big East this year after moving from the C-USA West. They finished the year 7-6 with a bowl win over Fresno State in the Sherton Hawaii Bowl. (I'm sure you all remember watching that game on Christmas Eve.) SMU put up 72 points against Houston, 44 against Memphis, as well as 43 against Fresno. Defensively they shut out UTEP and SFA and apparently played well against #15 TCU (at home) losing 24-16. However they got toasted by Texas A&M 48-3 also at home.

SMU Coach June Jones requested that Baylor be dropped from schedule in favor of a cupcake.

We all are dissapointed that MSU bought out the NDSU game this year. No amount of whining and crying is going to change that. I wish they could have dumped a different team in order to play a texas team, which is very important to our recruiting plans. Also the money is a big help when your dreams are sky high like ash and co's are, they have big plans and it costs alot too make happen. I do hope our teams do meet in the post season, unfortunately thats the only way we will play the Bison in 2013. So lakes, put your big boy pants on, no one is more dissapointed than us we dont get to play this game this year.

Lakebison is always trying to get NDSU into the MWC. This kind of buyout and moves go on all the time at the FBS level where the big money changes hands. Doubt he would like FBS if this is bending him out of shape....

Might be a fun (and relatively easy) road game to hit this summer.

I find it ironic that we start our season with the school that received the harshest penalty handed down by the NCAA, otherwise known as "death penalty" in the mid 80s. To ending our regular
season with what could be could be the 2nd place winner for harshest penalties handed out by NCAA. Only time will tell what happen up there.

Personally I would have rather seen us play NDSU than SMU, would have been a great game.

Lakes yes you are huge. You have managed to make a huge fool out of yourself already by whining on the SMU message board. Your posts there are causing huge laughs. You truly are a legend in your own mind!

If SMU does finalize the match-up against Montana State, the Mustangs will have to cancel or postpone a game as they already have four non-conference games scheduled in 2013 (Texas Tech, Baylor, at Texas A&M, at TCU).

SMU message boards have lit up at the notion of canceling one of their four high-profile games in 2013. And most people seem to think that the game targeted for cancellation is Baylor. The Bears are slated to travel to SMU on Sept. 14.

Neither Baylor or SMU have made a statement on the status of their 2013 game. The two schools are currently scheduled to play every season through 2019.

Lakes, seriously doubt you own a pair of big boy pants. I'm betting you're only out of sweat pants about 2% of the time, and your social life is about as productive as your comments on here. Pretty obvious you live vicariously, or ignorantly through NDSU.
