Oh, I see what you were getting at. Yeah, Marx identified a lot of the right problems, unfortunately his theoretical solutions (what I initially thought you were talking about) just don't work on a macro-level.

When did several of the self-proclaimed conservatives on the board suddenly become so sympathetic to the plight of Islamic extremist terrorists?

I will boldly say it again, not as an ambassador of the U.S. (as I am not nearly a big enough a-hole to get nominated by the Pres, based on recent precedent), but as myself ... I am and will remain adamantly opposed to, and unsympathetic to the sensitivities of, terrorists. You touchy-feely right-leaning terrorist sympathizers will just have to live with that until you remember that your marching orders from the party are telling you to feel the exact same way (but only to justify a U.S. war or two, apparently. When Newsweek gets involved, suddenly you become card-carrying Taliban members). I have a couple theories to explain this metamorphasis, but I'm really hoping for you to ...

I think Ann Coulter has it just about right. Newsweek is so biased. You can read and decided for yourself.

Yeah, she has a pretty compelling case -- comparing Newsweek to the journalistic high water mark of Drudge. How can people read the pundit garbage and not just shake their heads and move on? Isn't it obvious that everything that comes from Coulter, Hannity, Savage, etc., is going to be so skewed and devoid of balance as to be useless? They are professional propoganda entertainers -- not journalists. Their opinions are essentially meaningless unless you proactively balance them out with a lot of research.

That being said, I made it about three lines -- right up to her complaining about Newsweek getting scooped on Clinton stories (many of which never panned out) by Drudge, and how that showed some sort of liberal bias.

Good, I got a rise out of you.

Now for the obvious response. In each of my posts, I was speaking specifically of the extremist (hint: anytime you see me use the term extremists, I am obviously not talking about your garden variety person of the Islamic faith) Islamists who condone and/or directly participate in terrorism (and almost every time I specifically stated that, although I eventually got tired of typing it every time and assumed that people could read it in that context as I had already established that many, many times). I never made a sweeping statement about those of the Islamic faith (as I do know a lot of them, and they are generally pretty good people).

So you see, if somebody is going to criticize me for being insensitive to a "culture," they better figure out which culture, specifically, I am speaking about. In all of my posts, it was pretty obvious that I was speaking specifically of that element that condones terrorism and not about all people of the Islamic faith. So perhaps if you want to apply the "uneducated" tag, you could put that to anyone who reads all of my posts, and then leaps to the conclusion that, despite tons of contrary specific references, I am making my statements about all people of the Islamic faith. If they can't make that distinction in my obvious posts, then I have no idea how they can be a supporter of our war on Terrorism (which I support wholeheartedly) that goes after the terrorists, but isn't going on a crusade against Islam (despite Bush's one misspeak on the topic).

And, speaking specifically of those people who use religion as a justification for terrorism, I do not and will not ever have any sympathy for them, whether they are Christians performing ethnic cleansing on Muslims or Muslims killing anybody outside of their sect of Islam in a terrorist attack. I categorically reject all of them as "good" people. They are bad people. They may have motivations through religion that justify their actions in their own minds ... but they are wrong. Those are examples of religion bringing evil into the world where none would otherwise exist, and that's a sad by-product of what can be a very positive element of our society.

Here is another story from Afghanistan that further proves that they are just itching for a reason to cause mayhem and destruction.

BAC- just informing you on US Ambassadors, not all are a-holes. take that comment personally, you just insulted my uncle, and other members of my family . uncle served Kennedy-Reagan era, several cousins now in positions in Germany, and Austria. sisiter-in-law worked in Korea as Saudi ambassador.

Case in point, you don't always shoot your mouth off until you know whom your really dealing with. not nice to insult. come from a political family, although I admittingly hate politics. Definitely been around the DC crowd too much in my life that I can say it is crap. (personal opinion) Doubt you have! with out personal reference, you should keep insults to yourself. now if there is a specific individual you'd like to comment on by all means blast away.

Just don't think blanket statements should be made on any occupation. i wont blast you if you make more informed comments. the political crowd i've met have some very good natured people wanting to really make a difference, however there are others like Nancy Pelosi (went to school with nick and dan) that I do not find to be genuine.

Their point of view might be bias, but at least they tell the truth and do not make up reports.

Your post on bobcat nation support only the leftist of this country. On this subject, you are sounding like a right wing wackyo who is trying to defend their buddy who made an huge mistake. Why are you trying to defend a news rag that is trying to bring down our great country. The radical muslims are still protesting today even though the news rag recanted the story. Sometimes it is better not to let the cat out of the bag. Sometimes, a news rag has to think about national security first.

Not that he can't stick up for himself, but BAC is far-and-away the most level headed poster on this web site. His comments are always well though out, informative and most importantly fair.
This thread seems to be turning into a witch hunt and one that probably has more to do with jealousy than political belief. Ironically, the subject of this thread "Newsweek" and its story about flushing the Quran down the toilet, has been treated by some in Bobcat Nation just like the country has treated it. Instead of a 'lets blame Newsweek' issue, Bobcat Nation members are saying lets make an issue of BAC. What a bunch of mularky. Let's just smoke screen everything instead of facing it.

Yes, our people flushed the Quran down the toilet, many times. Yes, it was reported on (which is what the press is for...sorry). Maybe these interrogators and the White House should ask themselves, do I want this to reach the media? before they act.
In the end don't hide your feelings of guilt behind BAC and level blame on the responsible party. Is it fair to kill someone not involved with an act, because someone else flushes a Quran down the toilet? Absolutely not, it was a blatantly insane act by those responsible. If the tables were turned and someone in America killed a Muslim after the set of circumstances, what would you say?
This is an issue that should bond all Americans, left and right, but somehow some from the right are trying to pin it on the left. How are we not together on this and how anyone can go after BAC via this is undescribable.

i do agree Brad is more level headed regarding his posts, and i hope he enjoyed the beach, but I don't like blanket generalizations about occupations/religions/races. will get fiesty, because I do not feel ignorance should go without being addressed. Brad may know us ambassadors he finds to be a-holes, but use their names, not a job description when commenting.

like I said, Nancy Pelosi, have met her, because I knew her kids, and when not on TV or at some political functions is not the most endearing woman. I have met her, and therefore can give only my personal opinion. other members in politics like Ted Kennedy have also met, at a function in Bethesda, MD and he came across arrogant and was so drunk he could barely walk. It was a fundraiser for a DC charity, my extended family donates a lot, so politicians come around to try and get a hand full of cash from time to time.

don't mind about personal opinions, that's why I enjoy reading these posts, because you can see things from different views. so ploitical or otherwise, go ahead and vent, i'll just bite my tongue.

what you do think politicians can be greedy? look up US Venture Partners and you'll see why most politicians that come around my family have their hands held out.

all I can say is thank God my mom was a MT ****** kicker and i took after her and my grandpa, because I'm not suited for corporate life :D and working for family isn't always a good thing.
