Judging by how often that cheer gets mentioned by Griz fans, it must really be accomplishing what it is intended to do -- get under the skin of Griz fans.
I have to admit, it's kind of funny as to when that cheer will pop up. It started up on a boat cruise for MSU fans before a Sac State game a couple years ago. Out of context like that, it is kind of funny. And, yes, it probably has a lot to do with 16 years of frustration. At the time, it was just about the only effective thing Cat fans had to razz the Griz, since the Griz always had scoreboard.
Now, rather than almost being a self-deprecating thing on the part of Cat fans (as an entire generation was raised cheering that during a defeat to the Griz as a college-level rebellious version
"We have spirit, yes we do..." as a brave face in another loss), it probably is taken by Griz fans as something a little more vicious as the scoreboard advantage now belongs to Cats as well. It's a bit of salt in the wound.

Well, if that's the worst thing the children are ever exposed to, consider yourself lucky. It's certainly sophomoric and PG material, but nothing that is going to turn your little angel into a sociopath. With a little good parenting, you can probably make them forget that they ever learned that new word... as it will surely be the first time they ever heard it.
Of course, your little graphic is certainly very child friendly. So it's bad to use scatological terms within 100 feet of a kid, but it's okay to outright mock a kid? As with all things, if the shoe was on the other foot, you clearly wouldn't care.

Way to make excuses and make it seem ok. Here's your explanation...."Well I'm the one doing it to in front of your kid, so it's ok. You can fix it afterwards by expaining how it's bad. Just don't do it in front of my kid". Hard to believe you've convinced yourself that it's ok to give children bad examples. And, how is my little graphic hurting anyone?? Let's here your logic for this one. If you're going to argue, come with a valid point.

Ummm, no. Why don't we just stick to what I said as opposed to making up new quotes for me. My words stand on their own.
Your graphic is hurting no one... just like a silly cheer hurts no one.
I also never said that "I" did anything, did I? I honestly don't think I've ever done the cheer (I'm not a big cheer kind of guy) -- I just started out by pointing out that it was kind of funny (as in "strange" funny and not "ha-ha" funny) as to when the thing would come up -- especially when the situation had nothing to do with the Griz.
And in a broader sense, yes, the "What about the children?" argument does get a little old. You can't sanitize the world, and if you could, it would be a pretty damn boring place. The kids are alright.
Of course, I am sure you complain just as strongly each and every time you hear any bad language anywhere near a child at a Griz game... right? I'm just asking for a little consistency. I expect it at pretty much any sports venue I attend.

[And just to ratchet things up for the fun of it...]
In all honesty, you people with kids should be tracking me down and thanking me (and everyone else without kids) for subsidizing your selfish desire to have kids by paying all of your taxes for you. We didn't ask you to fail the birth control test, you aren't making our top ten list of people whose genetic material must survive into the next generation for the good of society, we don't think your kids are cute, and we don't really want your kids around us. In fact, you should be apologizing to us for bringing the ankle biters around and disrupting our enjoyment. Hey, where is the adults only section around here? The day they put a daycare in the stripjoints (and I'm sure it's right around the corner), the invasion will be complete.
You want to keep dirty words away from your kids? Keep your kids away from the dirty words! They kennel dogs, cats, lizards... why not take the next step. Enjoy your game, drink your beer, speak your mind without fear of child Nazis chatizing you, and then pick up the rugrat on the way home.
The time for forward thinking is now. Strap them up to some headphones and pump in Mozart and Chopin 24/7. There's a chance that maybe environment will win the battle and a genius will develop. This genius could be the kid who one day figures out how to eliminate whining the world over, except for one thing. Their vocabulary will be lacking in one element -- they will have no ability to properly use powerful adjectives or adverbs. They could have been the ones who ended poverty and brought about world peace, but at the fateful moment when a startling and attention getting expletive was necessary to crystalize the movement, they came up with nothing. If only... if only they had heard that one cheer. If only they could have said "I'm not taking this s### anymore!" instead of "Gee fellas, I'm annoyed," then great things could have happened. Sadly, their genius is left untapped, and misery continues to rule the world.
All because they never heard the cheer.
There... that was a lot more fun than going down the same path over and over again. I haven't had a good tongue-in-cheek rant for awhile.

Griz fans .... if you really wanna hear the (Eat Sh*t Cheer) in full force. Pop on down to the Cannery the Friday night before the Cat/Griz game in Bozeman. I'm sure it would be so shocking for you that some of you would be in need of medical attention after it. I mean, its just a cheer right? And the Cheer is for Bobcat fans right? So why does it bother you so much? Truth HURTS.
P.S. - The Cannery doesn't allow anyone under 21, so no children would be offended .... just BANDWAGON GRIZ FANS.

Thank God for that. No one else would want them.Bay Area Cat wrote:My words stand on their own.
It's funny when people on here use their thesaurus to come back with clever responses. Or should I say knowledgeable comebacks?
BAC, your message about kids and how "you" pay taxes for them....well this just goes to show that your not the sharpest tool in the shed. Maybe you've been in the bay area too long to understand reality. I've been there a couple of times. It's the kind of place where morals are in the minority.
And the cheer, it doesn't bother me as much as you'd like to think. I just don't like it when kids have to hear it. I have no problem knocking sense into someone who thinks my kid needs a lesson in profanity. That crap is best left in the bars.
Apparently BAC, you have no kids, which isn't surprising and is great to hear your kind won't be spreading.

CTOWM: On a serious note, if you do want to discuss tax law, how do you make the argument that people without kids do NOT subsidize those that do? I am sincerely interested in hearing how you come to that conclusion.
Personally, it's not a big deal to me, but it seems pretty obvious that the tax code has incentives in it to encourage such things are breeding and home buying. Therefore, if you take advanage of those incentives, your portion of the tax burden is being reduced while those who don't take advantage of the incentives pay the full amount. This is an explicit shifting of wealth away from people without kids and/or houses to people with kids and/or houses by the government. That, by definition, is a subsidy.
How do you see it?
As an aside, what do the "morals" of the Bay Area have to do with tax policy?

That was humor??? I can't believe I missed that.Bay Area Cat wrote:CTOWM: Oh, you're killing me, man. Take it for what it was (humor).
As far as the tax question. First of all, I hope your not suggesting that most people have kids for the tax breaks.
Yes, there are tax breaks for people with children. There are also tax breaks for large corporations. Using your explanation and your quote
...doesn't it stand to reason that we all pay for big corporations and the so called "shifting of wealth" works both ways. Wouldn't that, by your definition, be a subsidy? Therefore, if you take advanage of those incentives, your portion of the tax burden is being reduced while those who don't take advantage of the incentives pay the full amount.

CTOWM: Of course I don't think that people have kids for tax breaks, merely that they are subsidized by those who don't. It seems that you agree with me on this point after all, despite your initial putdown of me on this very point.
In terms of corporations, you will have to come up with a specific tax break in order for me to discuss it in great detail. Speaking critically in general terms without defining exactly what one is saying is best left to politicians pandering to the lowest common denominator.
To equate the two (kids and corps), it is safe to say that the tax code is structured to provide incentives to both individuals and corporations for doing certain things. For corporations, it is generally to provide more jobs, and on the individual level, it is generally to do things that social engineers believe will provide a stable country (home ownership and, back when we needed more labor, having kids).
If you want to have serious discussions on these, or any other issues, I am more than happy to do so. It's a lot more fun for me to do that than to recycle pithy putdowns all day on smack boards.
