I don't think it's an athletic logo.....I think it's more to put on letterhead. I think all the athletic stuff will stay the same.
It's part of this whole integrated marketing/branding campaign. They are also changing the school's tag line from "Mountain and Minds" to something else.
I know that the school's public relations department is really struggling coming up with a new tag line to replace "Mountains and Minds".....any ideas???

This link tells all about it. There was to be a meeting this week for the public, but it was announced that that will take place in november. The athletics bobcat logo never was related to the university logo, which is now the montana hall cupola.

I hope you get the chance to wrap it around Never's neck and show him a close up someday.94VegasCat wrote:I hope that you are right about leaving the athletic logo the same. I really like it. I think that the CAT looks so cool, that I got it tatooed on the inside of my left bicep. GOTTA LOVE THOSE CATS.

That would almost be enough to make us all forget about the three game skid.WYCAT wrote:I hope you get the chance to wrap it around Never's neck and show him a close up someday.94VegasCat wrote:I hope that you are right about leaving the athletic logo the same. I like one of them quite a lot. I can't show it either, but I think it is a nice start and has lots of possibility. Not that I don't respect someone's opinion to NOT like it!
There is a refining process which will take place and include public comment, etc. A final choice won't be made without your opportunity to review. When this process started i was in the "why spend ANY money on this" camp but as it has progressed and as you think about how often a logo is used - how some great logo's take on lives of their own, etc., it is really a complicated thing.
Just think of the golden arches for MacDonalds - or the ND for Notre Dame. Coming up with something that looks good on paper, and on ball caps; that is unique, yet simple in design, easy to re-print on all kinds of media from metal to material - it is pretty complex.
Hopefully, once the final group of suggested new logos is ready, EVERYONE here will participate in the process, and once a final logo is selected-will get behind it. This is really a nice opportunity for MSU.
