When did the cheer squad get dropped? I hadn't heard about that. The dance squad was at the games this weekend. I wonder if insurance costs contributed. If I had my choice, I'd keep the dancers, but it's a shame to lose the cheer squad. I'm sure all it takes is money to bring them back, so someone would have to contribute. I give the AD a lot of credit for keeping the program within it's means.

WE ARE NO FUN

Post by carrotlicker » Tue Dec 07, 2004 12:23 pm

Yeah, I tell ya what. The bobcat stadium sure is a let down for us. I am pretty much ashamed of our facilities and everything to do with them. That and our team. Living in Bozeman isn't very exciting anymore.

I just don't know about this Bozeman program....I just don't. MMM.

I was a student at MSU from 89-93 and would have had an easier time studying at the games then at the library. 11,000 plus people buying tickets and viewing even part of the game is an incredible improvement. From three years ago until today is an incredible improvement. We have two kids who LOVE football because they have so much fun on game day. It starts with the inflatables, which are cool. Then we watch warm-ups and cheer our hearts out the whole game. Three years ago the people around us were thoroughly annoyed that we screamed during the game - and forget about throwing a football or something - that was totally unacceptable. After the game, the players talk to the kids and toss the ball with them. It is a special thing.

We went to Cat/Griz in Missoula without the kids and the stadium is amazing - but I wasn't overly impressed with the game day activities. Other than drinking, what was there? Granted, I'm not much of a partier and I felt safer in the stadium - simply because I was dressed in blue and gold from head to toe and have a big mouth. They have twice as many people - and that is the advantage. The endzone is extremely loud, partly because it is very well designed. I never heard their band.

Yeah, things could be better - and they are heading in the right direction. I still have people behind me who wish that I'd sit a little more than I do - but we're gaining momentum.

One thing that I'll tell you straight up I do NOT want, is some cult like following of people who claim to be Cat fans but don't know the first thing about MOntana State University or football or basketball. I like the friendly, comfortable atmosphere at Bobcat Stadium. We got a good thing going. New promotions and more music etc. are great. The cheer squad absolutely should come back. The band is under great new direction - I'd love to see them play something other than Earth, Wind and Fire - but they have potential.

I'm with most the other posters - things are better and better. If someone has specific ideas and plans to make it better yet, lets hear 'em. If you just want to complain - get a life.

First post and a very negative one. You know if fans who thought like that all came to the game, we wouldn't have fans like you.

I've said this before, but want to throw it out there again. as a former student, now alumni and corporate sponsor, stop thanking me during the game. at Wa/griz they thank sponsors up on the screen, not during the music, not over the band, and not during play. next year i am buying a griz ticket for Angela Baumann, the Assistant Athletic Director of Corporate Relations & Marketing so she can see what the atmosphere is like over there and get some idea of what we are talking about.

That's a good idea. I would suggest that they send whoever is in charge of that stuff to some big time college games-preferrably in the south. Go to places like Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Virginia Tech, etc. and see what they do and try to implement some of it.

I've posted on your old site many times the things I'm reading today.
New costume for champ, get a good message board (you did) pave some of the land around the stadium, have some cops outside after the game directing traffic, lose the eat $hit Grizzlies...go cats go cheer (it's embarrassing), treat visiting Griz fans better. I know many fans who will never go back. I'll be there next year but it is a bad experience....similar to Geo Southern crowd. Treat someone bad and they tell everyone, treat them good and they only tell a few.
It is still better than most 1AA stadiums and you get bigger crowds.
The box score on Delaware-William and Mary said 8,800 fans. Not very good for playing the defending champs.

I played in your old stadium and this one is a lot better. The Griz are going to copy your idea of the heated bar walk area on the next expansion. That is real nice. Maybe improve the end zone seats.

You really do need to keep up or you will fall behind. There are two more expansions scheduled that are going to be great. You do get more students to your games than we do. Something we need to improve.

bronco,

It's absolutely AMAZING to me how long you beat this dead horse.

FACE IT: SOME Cat fans are going to get drunk and berate the Griz. SOME Griz fans are going to get drunk and berate the Cats. You will never eliminate either of those 2 facts. The fact that you think YOUR specific treatment was worse than some of us have gotten in Missoula is LUDICROUS.

LET IT GO.

BTW, some years ago, wasn't it Griz fans who were chanting stuff about a Weber State BBall player's mother shortly after SHE DIED?? Anybody else remember that embarassment?

Now THAT'S class...

Maybe I'm alone here, but I personally won't lose any sleep if griz fans that came to Bozeman last year choose not to return. Oh darn, more seats for us! In my mind, the more miserable their players and fans are, the better our home-field advantage is. Now, let me say that I don't condone screaming obscenities into people's faces if unprovoked, but if we can just make them uncomfortable by placing them in a situation that puts them on the defensive just by our enthusiasm and outward displays of Bobcat Love, then by all means! As far as the players go, they are 100% fair game. I hear they didn't enjoy their last trip to Bozeman/Livingston, and I hope we make it even more miserable next year!

BTW, I seem to remember bronco "vowing" to never return to Bobcat Stadium after the concentration-camp-esque treatment he allegedly received last year. Looks like he is reneging a bit on that...

Yeah, I'd like to see us with a stadium like the Griz have. We don't have good things like they do. We need more good things. Not bad things. Things. Things. Things. And players. And coaches. We need to reach into a player and coach basket and pull out random selections and we will have better things. things.

I just don't know about this Bozeman program....I just don't. MMM.

Oh my...

Do you really live in Dillon? Is it hard to maintain the mindset that you've been posting in, or are you actually schizophrenic/ high on acid?

You're one odd f(*edit)er!

To clarify my previous post...I said "Heck...that's why my friends call me whiskers...cause I'm curious like a CAT." (in Harry Caray voice) Will Farrell? Harry Caray? Saturday Night Live? Joke? No? Not getting it? oh ya...you live in Dillon...

Kinda off topic
oh well

here's another good one

"It's a simple question Doctor...A baby could answer it! If you had the choice of being the top scientist in your field, or catching mad cow disease...which would you choose?
