I think if he leaves we lose Lamson and both Dowler brothers, I'm hoping I'm wrong but I don't see Vigen not taking who can to help jumpstart the rebuild at OSU.
You might be right. I'm wondering if Lamson is willing to go to his fourth program to play for a team that might not be very good. The Dowler brothers might not want to end their careers on a rebuild either. Depends on how much cash is thrown their way, I'd guess. If someone can convince them to stay and play for a championship instead of a lower-end FBS program (currently), it's gotta look pretty appealing. I don't think any of their NFL stock rises by going to OSU, so why not play where you know you can be successful?
Vigen has known Lamson for awhile and he was able to get him to come to MSU instead of going to Bowling Green. The PAC is not the PAC of old but it will be and already is being seen as one of the top 2 G6 Conferences, Lamson for sure will go with Vigen.
The Dowler brothers may be different but OSU (despite their poor season) has a very passionate fanbase and some $$ to offer players. It sucks but we're considered 2nd fiddle to FBS, the allure are playing at the next level + some $$ could be hard to resist
Splitting hairs here but Vigen didn’t get him to come here over Bowling Green. He chose Bowling Green over MSU, went there, and then a coaching change made him go back to the portal and ultimately come here.
He could leave, but I’d actually be a little surprised if he did. He’ll be entering his final year, and will be coming off a great year here. He finally found a spot that he’s the man and that has great fan support. I’d be surprised (but not shocked) if he went away from that and went to his 4th program for one final year of playing.

Bowling Green coach left there after Lamson committed. So he opened recruitment and ended up at MSU but finished his Stanford courses.

They don’t need to leave for financial reasons so it would just be to play on the CW 6x a year and get your ass kicked.
Lamson? That’s a question mark because he is making FCS defenses look silly.

There are multiple other reasons why they might want to leave, we and other top FCS schools fan bases seem to get it in our heads that no one would ever want to leave for FBS when we have a better situation here and yet its happened every single-season since NIL.
Again I hope i'm wrong, but it's definitely something we probably should keep in mind, it's 100% garunteed Vigen will try and take as many of the top players from here as he can.

Vigen signs with OSU. Taco and Caden argue about the issue, and cease speaking to each other. Bobby hears about it and offers Taco a NIL sponsorship at Taco John's, and the continuing role of Bergen - Wortham - Dowler Swiss Army Knife position. Following Wortham's footsteps, Taco accepts. Bobby fires his recruiting coordinator and hires Colter Nuanez to run his now-patented "Big Sky Player Portal to Missoula Program", and sends boxes of shirts to each Big Sky rival player with the message "Come play with Bobby's BIG sky PPP".

The thing that never gets discussed is the potential change for quality of life. Oregon is not the greatest state in the world to live in right now, taxes are high and politically they're falling in line with California (regardless of how you feel about it).
Maybe it's a homer bias, but living in Montana with a lesser wage, and leading a flagship program is WAY preferable than living in Oregon with a conference in shambles and playing second fiddle to University of Oregon.

You mean in the euphoria of probably the best moment of his career? I'm sure he's loving it here but if Vigen leaves and he gets a chance go with him to lead an FBS team I bet he'll take it. I hope he stays but Taco/Adam will have to be better recruiters than Vigen.

Well sure, but after not being the guy at other schools, and being the guy here, that's a good pull.

I don’t think the political slant belongs here. That being said we’re not talking about a slight salary bump. We’re talking about making at least 5x more than what he currently makes. You don’t turn down making generational wealth because you like one place a bit more than the other. If Vigen truly loves Bozeman and is offered the OSU job, he can go coach through a single contract there and live like a king wherever he wants when he’s done, including Bozeman. Some people are almost as delusional as Grizzlies when it comes to thinking Bozeman is the end all be all.

OSU also isn't located in Portland. It's still in a college town with all that comes with that but life is quieter outside Portland.

Honest question. If these type of jobs truly are generational wealth why do so many coaches keep chasing the rainbow when they get fired 3 or 4 years later?

The best news of all is MSU winning yesterday and getting home field advantage throughout the playoffs. If MSU can take advantage and make another run to Nashville then those FBS schools with openings once again likely aren't going to want to wait until mid-January to get a new coach in place. Especially with the removal of the Spring portal window.
This! I just think Vigen is too loyal to his guys and too determined to win a NC. I don't think he'll bale on this team. If the other schools will wait on him, maybe, but if they won't he'll stay. He's got two sons on the team too and though money is nice, he's building a stellar program at MSU and that must mean something. It's not always about the money, especially if you and your family are happy.
still think this? sounds like he is going.money talks..lots of zeros on the end of your salary buys a lot of happiness.

Because they enjoy coaching/the competition? At worst, Vigen would probably be making 2 mil a season at OSU. Even if he gets kicked out after a winless season or two, he’d still have made 10 million. I get that’s not WEALTHY wealthy, but it would set up him and his kids for life.
