My guess on oline at Oregon, assuming all are healthy.

LT: Zimmer
LG: Reed
C: Mastel
RG: Carr
RT: Fleischmann
Serious? I’d be shocked, tbh.

I’d much prefer Reed at Center. Mastel is good, but limited movement skills. Not my preferred type at center.

Jefferson should be the clear cut favorite at LT. I’ve heard good things about Carr, but still think Rollins is likely one of the starting guards.

RG was the one I felt like was a guess. I'll come back to it after the first depth chart and see how far off i was.

Can I ask why you think Zimmer started over Jefferson?

Had heard he has made a big jump in his development over the last year. Educated guess, I guess.

Just a comment. Thanks for discussing the offensive lineman as I have very little opinion of the difference between the two deep.
Other than consistently impressed with Reed and also have the feeling that Rollins, if he continues to progress and get in better shape, will be an impact player

I would think that both Rollins and Jefferson will play at some point this year, at some point you know we're going to have to deal with some injuries up there. We were pretty consistently healthy up front this year. Reed has a long injury history. I kind of think maybe Jefferson is going to be something of the Swiss army knife type, both swing tackle and swing guard.

Zimmer did play well in the scrimmage. If he beats out Jefferson, who is very good, that's a really good sign for MSU. MSU has all kinds of good problems to solve along the OL. This has to be one of the most competitive OL battles across the board in MSU history.

Was watching a breakdown of Max Brosmer (New Hampshire/UofMinnesota) and couldn’t help but start thinking about Duchien.

The main discussion was Brosmer’s ability to manage an offense and his ability to take advantage of whatever the defense gave him. The main thing that stood out to me about Duchien was his ability to recognize when players were out of position and get them lined up. I guess you could say he had great command of the line of scrimmage.

I think he’s a pretty smart kid and understands the game well

It's not anything that I look for or even know what to look for, but I just saw Duchien directing players around a lot at the LOS. For all I know he could've been telling them the wrong thing, but I doubt that. Lol. It could be something that's easy to do after being in a system for a certain amount of time. I do know that the coaches are looking at it and that it's an obvious necessity for any QB to have a good handle on. I always remember Mike Kramer's hilarious reply to a question about how well he thinks the offense will do in preseason camp: 'why don't you ask me that in a couple weeks because we can't even get lined up correctly right now.'

The discussion surrounding Brosmer was generally about his intelligence. You just gotta be smart or football smart to play QB. I assume they're all smart, but some just smarter than others. Some QBs make smoother (continuous) transitions while thinking on their feet, while others are a little herky-jerky that way. Continuous vs digital. Digital players, like digital things, seem to glitch at times.

Zimmer is listed at 6' 6", 240 on the 2025 roster. I'm assuming he is putting on a ton of weight if he's going to be the starting LT for the Bobcats. Don't even get Gtapp started...

Even though we’re not fully into summer yet, My pic for breakout wide receiver will be Maxwell Hendrick. The more film I watch on him the more impressed. I am by his fluidity. Very McCulloch like. Fast, fluid, seems to have a good field vision.
As an incoming freshman from Texas, he’ll have the usual tests to pass… Assimilating into the community and team.
I think if his attitude is good and correct, we will see immediate results from him.

Gtapp's big argument is that you can't add more than 10 pounds of "clean" weight in a year. That limitation is less relevant to linemen, who can (and often should) opt for a "dirty" bulk
