No question. I was just pointing to Akems asinine take that our defense is worse in 2nd halves. Forgetting to mention our 2's, 3's and 4's are playing in the second half. So if he's right, and we do that in the playoffs, my guess is it will be VERY good for the Cats.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 3:17 pmHaving our 2's and 3's in almost every game this year will pay huge dividends in the offseason.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 2:36 pmI'll feel really good if our 2's and 3's are playing in the playoffs; even if they give up some points.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 2:29 pm"They give up most of their points in the second half. But you're right, this game will tell us something. Your opinion going into it will determine what it tells you. For me, I think the Cats are much better and I expect to win by a couple scores. So if they do that my opinion of our team won't change at all from how I feel today. However, if Davis plays us very close till the end or even wins; I'll still feel good about the Cats but would concede that Davis was better than I thought.
Regardless, after the crap games we had to watch most of the season, I'm very excited for the last two weeks of regular season Cat football!![]()

Yeah, you gotta love his self deprecation. So rare in the coaching ranks. Great way to play possum. I appreciate anyone that doesn’t act like they know everything.

I watched him some in the gris game, he gets a good push up the middle but doesn't have much lateral ability. If PSU were to beat UM, and then we beat them in the Brawl and both Idaho and NAU win out, do folks think the Griz fall behind both of them in the standings or do they fall between Idaho and NAU?

also to use a Barney Barnum quote, I think Sain has a little more "sand in his ass" than Perk and I think he can hold the line better. In addition our 2 guards are better this year too.

If Cats can keep him from getting a push it will be a problem for UCD. Most of Cats run game is quick holes, and then a blocker getting to 2nd level to spring big holes. A couple times UCD left big holes in middle on pass downs. Ah Yat jad a couple nic runs that Tommy would have made huge plays.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 4:17 pmI think that 400 lb DT will hurt them more than help them.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 3:11 pmIt all about matchups, and the 2 I don't like is Larrison vs our second level and that big 400lb wrecking ball #75. we handle those guys and the Cats go 11-0.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 2:22 pmYes, but he's not wrong in what he said about Idaho. UCD run game seemed more push ahead, and Larrison is patient and waited for a hole.

OK. You are right. Everyone will agree we are good after this weekend. I bow to you. No one will continue to say Cats haven't played anyone. Thanks for your knowledge.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 3:09 pmYou seem a bit sensitive about your "excuses" by outsiders even though the Cats are ranked #2 in the country, how does that not show the Cats getting the recognition they deserve? He's a hack.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 3:23 pmNo question. I've heard some crazy takes by him over the last couple years but wow.![]()
But Akem knows the formations, so he’s probably good.

Well, don't you think 'someone in a position like Akem's' should know MSU's defense is mostly 2s and 3s in the second half and is the reason the points allowed are higher? I'm just having (trying to have) a little fun with you. Not a big deal, I'm not surprised you forgot about that. It's funny/not funny to me how often people make comments like Akem's, even those in the business much longer than he's been at it. I think they hear this from someone else and don't double-check it. I know, I know...I've probably done it, too.
Anyway, someone that's been in this business a long time tried to tell me that MSU just won on the red turf for the first time. I was like no, and they corrected themself and said, 'oh that's right they won there in 2022' and I was like no, and so I told them that MSU has won on the red turf (installed in 2010) more than it has lost and has now won FOUR times on it. 2011, 2021, 2022 and 2024, which makes it 4-3 and the winningest team on the red turf other than EWU. MSU is also the winningest team in WGS other than UM. "But, yeah, continue with your story about how it was MSU's first win on the red turf. I'm all ears."

He was confused. It was the Griz' first win on the red turf.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 9:11 amIt's funny/not funny to me how often people make comments like Akem's, even those in the business much longer than he's been at it.
