I should add....I don't mean to downplay Lamson or Julius. Both those guys are certified studs who have made a tremendous impact on the program.

Lamson is The most impactful transfer in MSU football history! What an incredible offseason pickup!!

I’m not scouring the past rosters, records , etc. and probably am missing someone but Julius Davis might be #2!
Speaking of that, I see Elvis Akpla is being inducted into the MSU HOF this year.

Junior Adams will always be #1 for me.
Joey Thomas, Michael Jefferson and Bryce Sterk are 3 that jump to mind.
Daniel Hardy wasn’t too shabby either!!!

I’m with ya! Julius gets a special spot in my heart just for overcoming adversity. Remember he came into last year after rehabbing from knee surgery and then is injured again missing a significant part of the season. He could have given it up….but he chose to continue to rehab again and give it another go. I really appreciate all that he has gone through to make it back this year and perform at a level earning him 2nd team all conference. He is indeed a stud!

Considering who he replaced and the numbers he's put up this season...yeah. You're right.

Last year MSU had its biggest +/- in terms of total O/total D. It was +167.1 in 2024, this year it was 163.6 vs FCS-only. 2023 +142, 2022 +134.9, 2021 +92.1.

MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

So with Vigen's history of developing NFL caliber QBs, after a playoff run, perhaps an NC, and another year next season, what is Lamson's potential at the next level?
He has the size and the right personality/attitude. He will need to see the field a bit better as I know they have pointed out a number of times he has missed easy passes, on the flip side he does make a decision and has full confidence to go with it, that’s a great attribute. He also is, knock on wood, extremely durable.

Personally, if everything stays the same between this year and next year, I think the biggest boost he can get is a big receiver that can go up and snag the 50/50 balls, we really haven’t had that guy since Lance.

The more I think about it, with the emergence of Steel and Woods, both redshirt freshman, we will be stacked at receiver next year. I think with a more balanced offense we will be able to attract a few decent portal dudes, and if he maintains his accuracy he may have a decent shot.
As far as a big 50/50 guy, would a guy like Cheeks fill that bill?

I sure think so RR, and he's in the portal now. He probably has a good shot at a decent FBS school but if he stays FCS then he could hardly do better than coming to MSU.

We could have Dowler Steele Woods so mot sure he would come to be a 50/50 guy. Won't Jordan Reed be back isn't he 6'6

Seems like we also have so TEs that would fit the bill.

Lamson is becoming a great ball handler. The best since Prukop. That late pull on his TD was incredible. The TV camera has been getting fooled more and more often. Watching the whole gris defense go the wrong way with the mesh and the corresponding blocking by the O-line was pure art.

I'd add Demetrius Crawford to that list. We've had so many great running backs over the years, that some very good ones sorta get lost in the shuffle. But Crawford was really good in the two years he played for MSU. I believe he went over 1,300 yards in 11 games his senior season.

Beau Sandland was a first team all Big Sky, seventh round draft pick, and spent some time in the NFL.

Vigen's history with QBs is brought up fairly often, especially by non-MSU media. How much time is he spending with Lamson individually and the QB room in general? He's the head coach. Does he really have time for that? He seems to be great at delegating so I've wondered this since year 2. Is Tommy's development and Lamson's breakout attributable to Vigen or mostly/all to the OCs?

Regarding Lamson's future, it probably depends on opening up the playbook. We haven't really used our so-called deep threats this year in that kind of role and I assume that is more of a reflection on Lamson than the WRs or OL.
Maybe Vigen's ability to develop QBs is, in part, a function of his ability to put together an effective staff and delegate?

Maybe, but then it wouldn't be him doing the developing. When people talk about his QB development abilities it's always in reference to the guys that made it to the NFL (whether explicit or implied). That's why I wonder if Vigen has been more involved than a regular head coach with the QBs or if the last couple QB coaches have just been really good and Vigen is getting the credit by reputation. Doesn't really matter, just something I've thought about occasionally. Either way the last two years have had great QB play and I'm looking forward to another one next year.

Giving this a bump. Lamson looked pretty down after the SFA game, we made the Semis! Things are never perfect in life, keep leading and rocking and rolling! The gris will throw the kitchen sink at you this week, stay calm, trust your teammates, and this time around will be another epic Beat down in Bozeman!!!

The interview Justin Lamson had with Grace Lawrence after the brawl was outstanding. When Grace asked him what he thought about the stadium and crowd noise he said it was alright but Bobcat stadium is much better. Right before kickoff this Saturday instead of doing that silly Yellowstone gif they need to have the video of Justin telling Lawrence that Bobcat stadium is better, the crowd would go absolutely 💯 crazy
