Re: Cat-Griz 2.0
Speaking of old fans - I went to this site earlier today: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana%E ... ll_rivalry and noticed the first paragraph has this sentence: "The game is most historically and commonly known as the Griz-Cat game, and sometimes as the Cat-Griz game."
I grew up near Missoula until I went to school at MSU in the early '80's. I never heard the game referred to as griz/cat until some time during the streak (I'd estimate mid-90's). Is that what you and your old fan friends remember?
I've gotten used to griz fans wanting to put their name first on this game (though I do think it's petty and juvenile), but it does bother me when people put false information on a site like Wikipedia. I know I should be used to BS on the internet by now. I'm not going to lose sleep over it but I don't understand why people want to put out revisionist history.

I have always called it the Cat-Griz game. I remember hearing some who said Griz-Cat. It seems to me like the majority said Cat-Griz.catbooster wrote: ↑Mon Dec 15, 2025 12:47 amSpeaking of old fans - I went to this site earlier today: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana%E ... ll_rivalry and noticed the first paragraph has this sentence: "The game is most historically and commonly known as the Griz-Cat game, and sometimes as the Cat-Griz game."

Re: Cat-Griz 2.0
Only reason it’s called Cat/Griz is because how it sounds. Cat is a strong sounding word and the ending of Griz with the Z creates a more satisfying ending. It’s a great name for a rivalry game that encompasses the name of both schools. There is a reason it’s called the Bourbon Bowl and not Mud Dogs/Cougars.OldGriz wrote: ↑Mon Dec 15, 2025 8:11 amI have always called it the Cat-Griz game. I remember hearing some who said Griz-Cat. I feel like it started under Bobby 1.0. I love hearing Gris fans call it that because it makes them sound real intelligent.catbooster wrote: ↑Mon Dec 15, 2025 12:47 amSpeaking of old fans - I went to this site earlier today: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana%E ... ll_rivalry and noticed the first paragraph has this sentence: "The game is most historically and commonly known as the Griz-Cat game, and sometimes as the Cat-Griz game."

Re: Cat-Griz 2.0
They basically starting doing what we do....dbs cover send everyone else to stop the run. They run a 33 stack but they blitz a lot so it's basically like running a 4-2 or a 5-1. You run a te set and they bring another person the box and run an 8 man front. They basically have more people than the offense can block.... it seems that they don't always blitz but it's an add in blitz or what I call an echo blitz.... they are playing run but when they see its pass they do a delayed blitz. They basically feel that their dbsv are good enough to cover your wrs so they don't need lber help... very similar to us. Currently they haven't played anyone who could threaten them. Our wrs are much beget than what they've been seeing.rfischer94 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 14, 2025 3:05 pmCan someone walk me through exactly what Kyon Loud's return does to make their defense so much better? What does it mean for the game on Saturday? @BobcatBuiltTexan, I always appreciate your analysis but any comments are welcome.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 9:12 pm
Hyped up Griz run defense coming into Bobcat Stadium. What could go wrong for them...
Um will make some plays, make it hard for us, have some big plays(sacks tfls) but we'll also make some big plays. For me the key thing is our defense is better than their offense and their defense is as good as ours offense. Because of their style of play we will put pressure on their offense to score which will result in turnovers, like last game.

Do the Cats run out in their Gold Rush uniforms? Should we show up with our Gold Rush shirts pulled over the outside of our coats?

Re: Cat-Griz 2.0
The betting line started Sunday with the Cats at -5.5 (favored) but has moved quickly down to -3.5. So more money has been put on the griz with the points.

5.5 seemed high to me. I wouldn't be shocked to see it close to a pick 'em by game time.

Re: Cat-Griz 2.0
Just rewatched Cat/gris. Couple observations:
1. Cat offense was getting a push in the run game from the very start.
2. Cats D over pursued and missed quite a few tackles that would’ve stalled out gris drives.
I’ll do a Cats win if:
1. They limit the big plays on offense. I expect Bobby to breakout every play he’s ever dreamed about. Play assignment football stay home and tackle.
2. Don’t turn the ball over. (Duh)
3. Win the special teams battle. Wortham had too many return yards on Kick offs.
