Re: #7 SFA @ #2 MSU Friday night.
I lived in Texas 3 times….total of 12 years. Loved the people, loved the quail, duck, goose hunting….hill country was great, west Texas folks a bit more like Montana folks…golfed year round. Loved the TexMex food and backroad BBQ. We ended up there when two of my three kids started college so ended up with a Red Raider and Baylor Bear (ouch that Baylor Bear was expensive). Camping and floating the Guadalupe…(not afraid to say I cried when all those folks were in the flood last summer…our kids floated the river and I’ve sat there with a good beverage in hand as it lazed by…took special attention as the college coeds floated by!) and enjoying a lazy afternoon with the friends and bride on a house boat. Lot of good history. Diverse terrain…from the plains and flats in panhandle, to the hill country..Big Bend National Park in SW, gulf coast, and the forest of East Texas. Fishing the shallows for reds and sea trout….no state income tax (property and sales taxes). Just get away from the Houston/Dallas crowds and traffic. The country western music…Luchenbach, Texas and Guerne Hall. October fest in New Brunsfeld. Guess we moved 14 times in our career so we learned to find the goodie and love everywhere we lived.Augustus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 9:28 am"Try that in Texas!" or "Everything's bigger and better in Texas" tropes are tiresome. Re: #7 SFA @ #2 MSU Friday night.
Thanks for that insight and perspective! Funny about the locker\culture comments as I have felt all year that this Bobcat team has the best culture of any team out there when you listen to all the players and coaches talk about it, despite what you may have seen on social media. lol. Should be a great game tonight, Go Cats!ThelumberyardSFA wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 8:40 amVery true. I definitely see your point(s) due to the historical success of the program. And do admit SFA hasn't faced anyone of this caliber in a long long time. However, I truly think we have the best locker room in the country (I know a lot of people say that). Watch any interview over this past season, and you can see that everyone is willing to take a bullet for anyone in that locker room. There have been no "bad apples" all year long. I know we are only traveling with 60-70 players, but in the regular season when we would dress 110+. Every single player that would not see the field was jumping up and down on the sideline all game long. Each player plays for something bigger than themselves and it's been really wholesome to witness firsthand. A lot, if not all of the credit, goes to HC Colby Carthel. He will have you ready to run through a brick wall. This is the man that took his shirt off in a postgame OT victory celebration 4 years ago. Montana state definitely has the talent and the homefield advantage, but I still believe SFA has the heart to pull out an upset.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 6:56 amI'd like to think of it as "confident."ilovethecats wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 9:57 pmYes this is the part of the season where if we predict the Cats to win big we're "arrogant". And this isn't a slight to our SFA fans. But as you showed, our last 3 Friday night playoff games were just that; big wins. This isn't to say this is how tomorrow will go, but it's certainly not arrogant to think the results tomorrow could be the exact same as the results the last 3 times.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 5:16 pmI don't think it'll be that. I think it'll be a very competitive game. I just allow for the possibility that it could go that way. These Friday quarterfinal games have been a hurricane for teams coming in. I think your team is capable of winning. But W&M was #5 when they came in, they were confident, but their team didn't handle the moment and they got boat raced. I don't think that'll happen here but the last 3 Friday QF games: 28-3, 55-7, 52-19. The last 2 against top 8 seeds. W&M was 5, idaho 8. So i do allow for the possibility, you'll have to forgive me my arrogance.ThelumberyardSFA wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 1:25 pmJust remember SFA is in the top 8 for a reason. This game can go either way, although Montana state is definitely more likely to win (coming from an SFA fan). But to say this game is going to be closer to a 55-7 victory is just arrogant.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 12:35 pmI'm not so sure it won't be closer to William and Mary 2022, especially if we can start fast and light the place on fire the first couple series. These Friday night games have just been such a hornets nest too at the ol ball yard, with juiced up fans and a team more focused than we've been in that first game out of the bye. Add a little spice and drama this week, and I just think it's a really hard spot for them coming in. Confident.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

I love Texas. I think there are a lot of similarities between Texas and Montana in that people from both states have a lot of pride in their home and heritage. God bless Texas and Montana and go Cats.

I agree with this 100%! We've traveled to Texas quite a few times. And I always comment on how people there tend to go out of their way to be friendly (like Montanans). And also like Montana, they have great pride in their state! After last year's NC game in Frisco, we were touristing it up a bit before heading home. And my son commented "There's no other state who flies their state flag so proudly as Texas". And he's right!MrGoodKat wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 2:46 pmWe will have fun! SO. MUCH. Gong as expected. Silver lining is those games where you feel like you don’t look good and have a 2td lead at half.
But for smarter minds than mine, going back to Yale, what is going on with our offensive penalties?! Feel like we’ve had more the last 6 quarters of football than we had the last 6 GAMES before then. Weird to see.

473 yards, 227 of which were rushing.
They did make the Cats settle for FGs twice. Otherwise that was a 50+ burger.

This game wasn't even as close as it looked.
The Lumberjacks were cheating to draw false start penalties. You could tell by the way that the MSU players were reacting and the refs caught it a couple of times. The redzone INT and at least two of the FG's were preceded by such penalties.
This is the behavior of a pathetic, loser team and program. Hopefully they get pillaged in the portal and sink to the loser tier of their crappy conference. Good riddance.

Strong disagree with your last paragraph. Trying to find an edge to win is what you're supposed to do. We also false started without being encouraged. Go watch the SFA press conference Post-Game. A lot of human emotions on display when you find out your season is over but also career. I also didn't mind the nudge for next week at the end...MrGoodKat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 10:29 amThis game wasn't even as close as it looked.

Yeah we do strongly disagree. Flopping and simulating snap counts and all that trash is pathetic. No respect for teams that play like that. Huh. Lived in Austin 9 years now and enjoy it. Spent the morning on the lake and now smoking meat as the neighbors join us getting ready to watch UM-SD. 75 degrees and partly cloudy. Will probably hit the Cactus Cafe tonight to hear a solo show by the Drive-By Truckers. The people are right there with Montanans with their big hearts. Sorry you couldn't fit in after living in 269,000 square miles of land.Augustus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 9:28 am"Try that in Texas!" or "Everything's bigger and better in Texas" tropes are tiresome. My daughter toured SFA, Tech, Tarleton, A&M, before deciding on Baylor. My son will go there next year with her. That loud kerplunk was my checkbook dropping a big duke.
SFA - if Carthel stays you guys will be a force to be reckoned with. Replacing the D Line and Vidlak will be key, but I think I saw a Kitna on the roster? I also heard about transfers from Baylor, Tech, etc., which is something that we can't (and actually don't as part of our strategy) match in numbers over the long term. Great strategy if you can competently mix recruiting/development with some FBS transfers, especially around here (Austin-Waco-DFW). I really like the guy from what we see in interviews and the players love him and love to play with him. That is a similiarity with him and Vigen - the brotherhood - and that can really take you a long way. There is so much talent in Texas that he will be able to convert due to this year's success. Haven't been to Nac but could be a similar program to MSU if you have the donors and community support.
Thanks for your input on the Board and good luck moving forward. Dare we say "see you next year"?

You must of never played ball Mr Good kat.. Pretty weak for talking about my team like that.. Besides these angry comments from you I thought MSU was the best stadium and atmosphere I had ever been too.. I even liked it more than Kyle Field.. The fan base of MSU is first class it was a great trip for me even-though we lost.. I know we are winners and don't quit.. Wish the game was closer and with a few catches and 1-2 less turnovers it could of been.. Heck i think it was 20-20 in the 2nd half.. Yall got a first class place and fan base..MrGoodKat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 12:06 pmYeah we do strongly disagree. Flopping and simulating snap counts and all that trash is pathetic. I'm not angry; I'm stoked. The team I cheer for is hosting a semi-final game. Your team was tough and determined and put up a great fight. It was a fun game. But it should not have been as close as it was. If the officials were more on top of SFA's manipulation, the Cats score ~60. Trying to manipulate the officials all night into helping you win is garbage and you know it. There's zero sportsmanship or honor in it. It's a pathetic approach to a game that comes from a loser mentality. We would never teach our kids to play that way.Jacks4460 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 13, 2025 2:51 pmYou must of never played ball Mr Good kat.. Pretty weak for talking about my team like that..
