Not a popular opinion, but I don’t think SDSU will pose much a challenge to um. I know Mason’s back, but his absence doesn’t explain the defense giving up as many points as they did even with their best linebacker out. In their last loss, they gave up 28 points in the first quarter.

Well, a gris loss to the Cats again this season would tie Bobby for most losses by a head coach in the series.
His latest L gave him sole possession of that record. The coach with the second most losses is Swarthout with 6.
He is tied with Ash for 2nd most losses between both schools and needs 1 more loss(8) to tie Hysell for most losses of any coach all time.

It would be great to give him that 9th loss next year in Bozeman.

Gotcha, I didn't realize he talking about both schools. #-o

I’m not sure why the Wikipedia record for head coaches starts at 1946?

It would be cool tp beat the gris twice in one season. Has it ever happened that one of us has beat the other twice?

But I want to get over the sdsu hump too.
Nope. Vigen has the chance to check a lot of boxes here. Beat the Griz in Missoula? Check. Beat an Ivy League School for the first time ever, hopefully check. Beat the Griz twice in one season, hopefully check. Beat the Bizon in the Chipper, hopefully check.
I like the way you think...... :goodpost:

I have a gut feeling on this one. I think SDSU was kind of down in a funk for a stretch this season but now that we are into the playoffs, I expect a different team. I expect SDSU to whip UM in their home stadium. And that's fine with me.

I'm on the SDSU bandwagon. They should take care of business in Missoula. Plus the stadium will be half full and low energy just like the last several years over there in the 2nd round.

I want the gris to make it to the semifinals for two reasons. 1 - we give them a major beatdown this time and win twice in a season. 2 - a semifinal appearance keeps the Bobby haters at bay...and he stays at UM for ten more years!
HEAR, HEAR!!! =D^

There are few things in life that delight me more than listening to Booby H cry into the mic following a loss to the Cats! 8) AND, imagining him having to drink the bitter cup a 2nd time in a season in his post game thoughts…and to watch his nervous twitches like Inspector Dreyfus from the Pink Panther…would make 2025 an EPIC Cat season! =D^

Imagine IF they were to make the semi’s how fully inflated they’d be…only to crash and burn in Bobcat Stadium! Wow…pure delight!
Delightful indeed! This is the only thing I asked Santa for! :D

To think of this description.....This coach has at best a .500 record against his hated in state rival, although he is the school's all time win leader!....

Bottom Line:

At least in week two, SDSU was the better team than us, IMHO, especially on the line of scrimmage. I think they got in a rut with their QB injured and expect them to be dangerous in the playoffs. I think our team has improved more than most after week 2, but I don't want to see them again.

By contrast, I am confident we are better than the Griz and would really like our chances against them at home

But let's take care of business this week first before we start worrying too much about future opponents.

Mason makes their defense better. They sustain drives longer, which limits the other team's opportunities and allows the defense to stay fresh. They score more points with him, which puts pressure on opposing offenses to score more. Entire team plays with more confidence.

Why are so any confident that Jacks will whip UM but Cats can then beat them. Cats didn't dominate UM. A few plays made decided the outcome (pick and block). Remember when they took the lead Davis fumbled. If they recover Cats may have been down 10 in 4th.

This SDSU team reminds me of 2021. Gronowski was hurt and they took the long way around, but ran out of gas in Bozeman. They were dangerous though.

And if we recover the fumble on the opening kickoff in the second half we probably score 2 plays later and go up by 10 and it’s likely a different game from that point forward.

There are a lot of what ifs. That’s sports.

I’ve heard many people (mainly griz fans) point to Davis’s fumble we were “lucky” to recover, while completely disregarding Wortham’s fumble that he was lucky to recover and Gillmans fumble on the huge hit that went straight out of bounds. Those both would have swung that game in the other direction at those moments if they go the other way.

The “luck” wasn’t just one way that day, despite what the narrative seems to be.

Or if Gilman gets called for illegal hands to the face for the face mask he gave our defender on his long run TD they get pushed back, dont get the score and we go on from there.

Losers try to justify why they lose. The fact is our offense was dominant and super efficient. It was obvious our defensive game plan was to keep everything in front of us and not give up the big play. Giving up big plays is a huge momentum swing at their place and results in them avalanching their opponent. We let them have the flats all day long. In our house we man press those receivers and reroute them all day long. It was a great defensive game plan that worked to perfection. We beat dUMb by 17+ in our house!

He could have losing season for the next 5 years and the love for him will never end. He is God and can do no wrong. I hope he stays for ever.

Does he get any offers from FBS schools?
Some gris fans would have you believe the NFL has offered him coordinator positions he conveniently turned down. #-o
Special Teams coordinator? He’s not qualified for either of offense or defense at a power FBS program. NFL?? Ha
