Q
Hammond from Sac has more ypc, more total yards, more carries....and runs behind a worse O-line. And Davis is every bit as good as Gillman, including blocking (although Gillman is better receiving out of the backfield).
But the default is to give the award to either a future NFL player (Cam Skattaboo) or the best QB in the conference. Theres a coin flip between Pinnick and Lamson on that front, but given the Cats record, its gonna be really hard NOT to award it to Lamson.

Maybe. Entirely possible that there's a ruling in the off-season about JC years not counting against NCAA eligibility.

I was pretty sure he was already granted that extra year? Unless he could get another year on top of it? How many years are they going to let these kids play.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 23, 2025 12:37 pmMaybe. I’m not one to shy away, I was born a Griz and will die a Griz. Pinnick missed some time and struggled when he came back. Loss to ISU was bad.onceacat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 23, 2025 12:36 pmHammond from Sac has more ypc, more total yards, more carries....and runs behind a worse O-line. Agreed. And Lamson was lights out against 2 top 8 teams to finish the season.tetoncat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 23, 2025 1:09 pmPinnick missed some time and struggled when he came back. I don't know anything about the Sac State offensive line, but I do know that running backs benefit from playing in offenses where the QB is a rushing threat.onceacat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 23, 2025 12:36 pmHammond from Sac has more ypc, more total yards, more carries....and runs behind a worse O-line. I love Julius Davis, but I don't think he's as good as Gilman. I personally think Gilman would average 10.0 YPC behind the Cats' offensive line.
I am all for Lamson winning it. I just respect the special talent that Gilman is and I don't think he would be undeserving.

Re: OPY, DPY, NOY
Grace Lawrence mentioned in one of her spots that BSC awards come out later this week. I assume that means tomorrow.

Colter told me tomorrow.
I have to think it'll be Dowler and Lamson as the offensive and defensive POYs. I don't know if the BSC gives one player two awards, so they might give newcomer to Wortham. I can't see them doing it the other way around.

Re: OPY, DPY, NOY
I think Dowler (PR), Fleischmann and Reed are strong candidates for first team on offense. Brott, Dowler, Eiden IV, Gray on defense. I think MSU plays so many CBs and LBs and Davis/Jones splitting that they won't get better than 2nd team.

Wortham isn't a newcomer to the Big Sky, he won't get it. It should be Lamson by a mile.

Is Newcomer in regards to the conference or the team? Is there a true definition?

I'd think if its the "Big Sky" newcomer of the year, then it's the conference. But who knows?coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 1:13 pmIs Newcomer in regards to the conference or the team? Is there a true definition?

It’s new to the conference. Clifton McDowell won it in 2023, Pennington from NAU won it last year. Both had played elsewhere.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 1:13 pmIs Newcomer in regards to the conference or the team? Is there a true definition?

Re: OPY, DPY, NOY
I think Dowler wins but not Lamson. He should over Ah Yat and Wortham. I would give to Gillman statistically. They did a good hype train on Wortham, but if you take out his returns he is not even close to best offensive player on his team let alone the conference
