Choate & his entire staff have to be on the hot seat at this point. If we are throwing out quality coaches with a Bobcat connection, I'm sure Kane Ione is starting to think about his post Nevada future.

Totally! Talk about serious speculating... today I've heard about everything - it's a DONE DEAL, oh and they're making him start right away so he won't be coaching the Cats through the playoffs... he's taking every single good player on the team with him - Oh, and there's no way we'll be able to find another excellent coach.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Re: Vigen Oregon State rumors.
This whole day teaches a good lesson about not freaking out over one tweet from a very sketchy source that was likely based on one news article about Vigen being spotted in the Portland airport yesterday. Clearly there are multiple candidates in play and none of us have any clue who the front-runner is or even if they're close to making a hire.

If it’s not OSU right now, CSU is still open and after this weekend and the subsequent domino affect throughout the FBS, there will be other positions in play.
We’re in for a few weeks of roller coaster I feel.
We could find out tomorrow it’s OSU, or we could find out in 2 weeks is XYZ job. Or he could be back next year.
This time of year is fun.

I have had the experience of watching a game from both the Bobcat and Beaver Stadium. I have been inside the Beaver indoor practice facility, it's similar to MSU. The OSU facilities are nice. But flying into Corvallis is like flying into Havre. The town atmosphere and game day experience beyond the game is hands down better in Bozeman.

Off the top of my head, Penn State, LSU, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Florida...and I'm sure a bunch more. Vigens not going to be in the convo for any of those, but they are going to hire coaches from other good programs, so theres going to be A LOT of cascading effects. I actually kinda think that Vigen would be in a better spot if he waited to see how these hired panned out & went to a good program instead of a disaster like OSU.nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 7:38 pmYou and I define fun differently, lol. I have a daughter who goes to Oregon State and I’ve been to some games there before the conference restructuring. It’s a good gameday experience if they have even an average team. I’m also unaware that Havre is 65 miles from the ocean.St George wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 7:43 pmI have had the experience of watching a game from both the Bobcat and Beaver Stadium. Just starting indeed...remember how Danny Sprinkle ended up at Utah State after Notre Dame hired Penn State's coach, which hired VCU's coach, which hired Utah State's coach, which hired Danny away from MSU. If anyone thought one day of Vigen to OSU rumors was a lot, we're only getting started!exppi wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 9:19 pmThe carousel is just starting.onceacat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 7:56 pmOff the top of my head, Penn State, LSU, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Florida...and I'm sure a bunch more. This don’t make sense to me. I would think the CSU job is more attractive than the OSU job. Same conference now as well.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 9:15 pmThe streets say CSU wants polasek if he isn't hired at OSU.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 7:34 pmIf it’s not OSU right now, CSU is still open and after this weekend and the subsequent domino affect throughout the FBS, there will be other positions in play.

I completely agree with you. And who knows, some of these candidates might be using one job as leverage for another. Hiring season is a wild thing.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 9:29 pmThis don’t make sense to me. I would think the CSU job is more attractive than the OSU job. As a beaver fan who joined to give insight about our true candidates.. CSU isn’t even close to us lol.. we roll them in every aspect. We paid $1.5m for a QB this year.. that’s the whole NIL budget pretty much.. Facilities and such. It’s OSU by a mile.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 9:29 pmThis don’t make sense to me. Re: Vigen Oregon State rumors.
Alright! Hi guys beav fan here making an account to speak.
OSUs final 3:
• Jamarcus Shephard (front runner)
• Brent Vigen
• Justin Wilcox
Going into this shephard from Bama was the front runner. He flew in to interview today, and Brent flew in yesterday to interview. Brent flew commercial and that wasn’t on us. He wanted to, he had time lines to meet and we offered to get it handled or our AD fly there by Brent flew out here and we covered it. Seems like a humble guy. Both were in Portland to interview and I heard it went very well with both.
Wilcox is a wild card. He’s a local here, he is a PHENOMENAL coach. The cal issue is different. Being around these schools I see it more, cal doesn’t support their football. Lack of funding, support, etc. He isn’t a culture fit either, cal is egotistic, has high admission rules, and they treat football as a little brother who won’t stuff bugging you. Wilcox would be great here, he understands the area, he’s from here, gives a great defense to us and has managed a P4 school. Now I will say he’s our front runner now, there are some RICH donors we have who love him. Willing to shell even more $$$ out to see him as HC.. if we can swing $1.5m for our QB imagine what we could do in the pac12 with even more NIL..
I love Vigen, he’s screams success to me. i was born and raised in Corvallis. My best friend grew up with since preschool actually works within the AD office at MSU for yall! He raves about Vigen as a human. Hes a winner, and him coming here would make sense. Strictly financially.. $2.5m here vs $300k (before additions) with you guys. Bozeman is 12.8% more expensive than Corvallis and we are a beautiful city. So it’s a win for him.
I don’t think people realize that Wilcox can be a great hire for us. For how bad we were this year.. our final 3 are AWESOME.
Best wishes to yall in play offs! For my best friend, ****** MONTANA

Re: Vigen Oregon State rumors.
NDSU had three National Championships before Bohl and Vigen went to Wyoming. MSU has zero recent ones. NDSU had a lot more inertia to maintain their position at the top. MSU is trying very hard to get to the top again. Not the same situation at all.CalgaryCat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 11:15 amTo be fair they’ve got plenty of evidence that their organization can handle it. Not many teams keep on trucking like NDSUMSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 11:13 amI was reading the NDSU forum (Bisonville) earlier and they seem rather unbothered by the prospect of Polasek possibly going to Oregon State. I guess if any fanbase should be well aware that losing a successful head coach doesn't necessarily mean that your program will take a huge step backward, it would be them.

Wow. Thanks for the inside scoop. We’re so happy you want to take our coach and think we want the back story on it while we’re in the middle of a play off run. Would you care to tell us which players you think you’d be willing to take in the portal and why as well?DB50 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 10:19 pmAlright! Who knows. A person can say anything. Maybe it's a program or administration thing, a location thing, maybe Polasek will take CSU regardless.
