Basketball random stuff

Post by AFCAT » Tue Jul 30, 2024 12:48 pm

Purchased this old 1979-80 Bobcat basketball media guide. I think we need to bring back knee length tube socks.

I remember those socks too, my mom must have bought a 20-pack or something because we had every color combination imaginable for the stripes. The rest of the coach's outfit can stay in 1979 though!

Two Bobcat greats right there. Stu Starner and Craig Finberg if I'm not mistaken.

Aw, thanks for the correction, AFCAT! I somehow totally forgot about Bruce being there at that time. And thanks for posting the picture of his bio page. It's interesting reading about his history of coaching high school in Montana in his early years.

Love those socks. Buy them 6 at a time. I liked them because they were some protection against floor burns. Wore them for years for everything.

Any advantage that might have been gained by the socks was lost with the short shorts!!

Damn, those guys must have gotten 100% of the ladies with those outfits! Mick Durham should be in this, I can't quite tell for sure but it looks like he's fourth from the right standing near the top of the stairs.

Arnold McDowell was my hero. That team really got the Fieldhouse rocking after years of doldrums!

Thanks for the picture of Haroldson’s bio. I didn’t realize he spent a year at Harlowton. I know old man Petrino was there and also Gris coach Don Holst was there for a couple years. I liked Holst and was saddened when he got tossed under the bus.

Sartorial resplendence as Howard Cosell would say.

I agree that’s Mick. My eye was drawn to him because I had that exact same coat. It honestly was more attractive than garish, in a cool shade of blue, with gray and white. I got a lot of compliments when I wore it. Loved it. Kept it for a long time as it was too nicely made to part with. Guessing McDonald’s or JC Penney in Bozeman.

The average American mans height is around 5'9" tall. The short guy on the left in this photo, Myles Moskowitz, is listed on the MSU roster as being 5'-11".
