I went by the new fitness center to take some photos but the street and sidewalks were blocked off, so I had to take them from different angles than I have before. Looks like they are working on turning part of West Grant into the new pedestrian walkway soon.

During graduation and reunion week, I attended a presentation on the facility expansions underway and planned. Just fyi on your comment on the Grant pedestrian walkway, the design of the walkway was shown…of course Grant will be closed to vehicles from the east end near the sub/Asbjornson Hall all the way to 11th….it has a nice esthetic design featuring the geography of Montana from east to west….the plains and grasslands represented on the east through rock features representing the mountains then on to the forest lands in the west. Kinda creative I thought.

Just fyi, in case you wanted to know how much MSU is growing I captured the following numbers. Since President Cruzado came to MSU, the “footprint” of MSU facilities completed, under construction and planned has expanded the campus 31%!!! The completed and planned investment totals over $1.2B of which 90% has been privately funded!!! So proud of the university and its forward direction.
This was the rendering of the West Grant changes that was posted in this thread last November. Did you see anything different?

Yes a bit more detail on the walking mall itself with the geographic theme…which is not shown in the high level rendering you captured here. But I don’t have a picture to insert.

I found the detailed plans if any construction and planning geeks, like me, want to look at this type of stuff.

So funny that MSU will have an indoor practice bubble and a legit, not bargain-basement IPF. Don’t tell gris fans.

What are dimensions? Length, width, height.

Does anyone know if the recent wind storms in Missoula affected any ongoing construction projects? Would be a real shame if it had…

First and goal, clock winding down. That's Humphrey! It's TOUCHDOWN MONTANA STATE!

That's a good point. I hate the gris as much as the next guy but honestly I hope there wasn't something major...but if they had a lot of cleanup and a few things got tossed around, I'd probably enjoy that!

Missoula is a freaking mess right now. The U district looks like a tornado went through with so many downed trees. I would say half the spruce trees are gone within a 3 mile radius, and some of those are monsters. I'll be at that end of town this afternoon to see the campus carnage. I doubt their bubble had any damage as only the locker rooms are built and there was no turf down yet after their first screw up putting it in.

The State of Montana is Bobcat country.
missoula....still just 20 miles from Montana.

Still working on footings. About half hasn’t been formed yet.

Aren't they lucky there was the screw up. Otherwise the wind may have messed it up.

Thanks for taking and posting of the photos. These photos made me wonder how much wind the IPF will block for the track athletes?

Hopefully, since it’s an indoor facility, it will block 100% of the wind. :D

Stevo did a quick pass over Bobcat Stadium in his SR-71 to get us these pics. The DoD is none the wiser, so don't tell anyone.

Stevo and MSU Toddler are absolutely killing it this weekend. Thanks to both of those guy for the great updates. I'll post all of these pics here and in the parking lot thread.

I'm glad they didn't try that. Makes it harder to plow snow, takes away valuable parking spaces, it's more tripping hazards for drunk tailgaters, and any landscaping would just get trampled. It's looking great!

Agreed. By doing it this way it probably opened up an entire additional row for tailgating spots

I’d say it’s a missed opportunity to make it more aesthetically appealing.
