It has to be a slam dunk that MSU would take Grant if he wants to play for his dad. But he does have two Ivy League offers (Harvard and Cornell) and appears to be drawing some level of interest from regional FBS schools, so he's definitely got some great options other than MSU to choose from...as well as one terrible option.

I didn’t see a Harvard offer on his Twitter/x page but I did see Cornell, Fordham and NAU. I wouldn’t be worried about him going to either Fordham or NAU. Vigen said a month or so ago that um offered Grant but he hadn’t heard from them after the initial offer.MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 6:35 pmIt has to be a slam dunk that MSU would take Grant if he wants to play for his dad. You are correct, my mistake. He has visited Harvard but there's no offer posted anywhere. The Ivy League will always be compelling academically but I agree that it's hard to see him at the other schools over MSU assuming his dad is still the coach here in 2025.AFCAT wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 10:12 pmI didn’t see a Harvard offer on his Twitter/x page but I did see Cornell, Fordham and NAU. Re: QB River Warren, 5th Commit of 2025!
Warren graduated a semester early in order to get his college career started asap. Apparently, he's going the prep school route, but I can't determine which one. He has good speed with a 4.7 40. SoonerScoop, which says he 'tends to push the ball' has him rated at #43 in Oklahoma overall. Rated #117 nationally by QB Hit List. Went to some big camps going into his senior year. Appears to have started both years (soph and junior) at Bishop Guinness, but I'm not seeing stats for those years.

I wonder if the lack of "offer" from Harvard is because Ivy league schools don't issue athletic scholarships. They certainly figure out ways to provide athletes with money, but they don't provide direct athletic scholarships.MSU01 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2024 11:03 pmYou are correct, my mistake. Reading the article about River Warren, I wouldn't be surprised if he never steps foot on MSU.

Didn't it say that he would be enrolling this fall and then joining the team in the spring? If he enrolls next month, I think it's a pretty good likelihood he will stay committed.WetBreeches wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:41 amReading the article about River Warren, I wouldn't be surprised if he never steps foot on MSU.

As far as him actually being on the team in 2025, I wouldn't hold my breath. Maybe he's grown up a lot recently but he seemed to have a big ego prior to finding that he had burned his bridges with the G5 programs. He's saying all the right things now so we'll see. Sounds like a good prospect but may not stay long if he's successful.

I would imagine he’ll probably take a class or two this fall. Maybe online from msu or maybe from a local JC.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 9:13 amIs it gray shirting if you aren't enrolled in college during the season?AFCAT wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:58 am"Warren plans to gray shirt this year, spend the fall training and enroll at MSU in January."Cats15 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:50 amDidn't it say that he would be enrolling this fall and then joining the team in the spring? But, he is also 17/18 years old. And maybe a program like MSU that has great leadership within the players is exactly what he needs to thrive.

I think we need to accept that this is going to be the new reality moving forward with every single recruit that walks through the door. I'm very glad to see our coaching staff doing so well with in-state recruiting as at least so far, those players do seem to have a greater likelihood of remaining at MSU for their whole careers even if they'd have good opportunities to transfer up.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 9:13 amIs it gray shirting if you aren't enrolled in college during the season?
