Re: The offensive line
As long as they mostly stay under 300+ we may be able to keep them.

And Connor Wood also, who starts for Missouri now. As good as our O line has been this season imagine it with Wood at LT and Session at RT.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 1:09 pmTransfer portal. Ha…. Not quite how it has played out.
So impressed with this OL, they have been incredible! I Can’t imagine what they will look like the next 2 years….![]()

So impressed with this group's effort so far this season. Watching some of the running lanes they opened up last night was awe-inspiring. If it wasn't for the quickness of some of the Davis defenders, we would have had a lot more rushing yards. Vigen mentioned early in the season that the o-line would be fine - think he knew what he was talking about!

MSU averaged 7.2 per carry. UCD was allowing 4.4 entering the game.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: The offensive line
I don't know...I feel like Rush Reimer and Marcus Wehr have manned the tackle spots just fine on their own. Wood likely would've been our best lineman but Reimer is just as talented as TJ and Marcus has been one of the quickest studies I've ever seen at tackle.91catAlum wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 1:17 pmAnd Connor Wood also, who starts for Missouri now. Color me unsurprised when Rush gets offers after this season.

Yup, and then we plug in other anchors... maybe better. This program, talent, depth at every position, Vigen, etc... continues to blow me away.CodyCat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 12:33 pmWell I hate to even say this. But, we've had a few OL with a ton of experience hit that Portal button when we thought that person(s) would anchor us.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 8:57 amPre season- “The OL is way too young and undersized…. Re: The offensive line
Upon watching the spring game, two major things jumped out to me on tape:
- the young offensive line (both 1st and 2nd teams) were pushing around our 1st/2nd team defensive lines in the run game
- the 1st/2nd team defensive lines and our LBs struggled to fit the run and get off blocks
Didn't notice anything bad with the secondary because...they had a great spring game against Sean Chambers and Tommy. Anyway, I'm not as surprised at how well the offensive line is doing because the tape never lies! They were good in the spring and they are better in the fall.

Re: The offensive line
I agree with Vim (anyone is crazy not to). What I see with them getting offers is the fact they can stay and make the NFL. Leave and have to fight for a spot at a bigger school and maybe not start? That is a huge chance to be a decent sized fish in a big pond. Why not stay and be the huge fish in the smaller pond and get at least as many looks? I think they stay!VimSince03 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 02, 2022 5:34 pmI don't know...I feel like Rush Reimer and Marcus Wehr have manned the tackle spots just fine on their own. Lewis Kidd making a roster probably helps us keep some.

Re: The offensive line
Once again this should be highlighted.
"Cats wont be as good with a young O-line," WRONG
"Cats lost the right side to injury for the biggest game of the year, could be a issue," NOPE
For several years now we have been the best run team in BSC. We have had different QB's, different RB's, multiple faces on the offensive line. The only constant has been Coach Army and I think he plays a HUGE part of that success. You can see what it looks like when your coaching staff can't recruit and coach up the big uglies... just look over the hill. We have a very, very good one.

Re: The offensive line
This has been such a pleasant surprise and should really be a sign of optimism. Remember how we were supposed to have such a huge dropoff with the loss of all the incredible seniors from last year on this team? Coach Vigen said in the presser that we are a better team than we were last year. Do not just the oline being recruited and coached up. How cool is that.

Which presser did he say that, you mean the post-Weber game presser?seataccat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 10:25 amThis has been such a pleasant surprise and should really be a sign of optimism. Re: The offensive line
Yeah, if I remember right it was when he was talking about the resiliency of this team. He basically said this team believes it's better than last year. I think it's a minor distinction from him saying he believed it's a better team.91catAlum wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 10:37 amWhich presser did he say that, you mean the post-Weber game presser?seataccat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 10:25 amThis has been such a pleasant surprise and should really be a sign of optimism. Re: The offensive line
Yes, he talked about how as an overall team we had to sort of lean more on the defense than desired, and that our offense this season has the ability to put significantly more points on the board, leading to an overall better and more well rounded team. I think he's proven that we have quality depth everywhere (With the possible exception of safety, and even that position is getting better as players get more reps).kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 10:42 amYeah, if I remember right it was when he was talking about the resiliency of this team. Vigen talking about this year Vs last year in the post game presser. Props to the Carpathian Warlord Vigo who has been saying the same thing all season.
