Re: Zachary Dodson-Greene commits
PWO? He tweeted a PWO from PSU but nothing except the commit to MSU and no Voopa Voopa Voopa Bang from the big V.
And 30 adds quite a few to the locker room. Still expecting a few more retirements and transfers.
It is good to see that the transfers so far are usually moved up to FBS or a top FCS program.

First team all conference. HM 6A all state. 247-2 star. Good size at 6-1, 180. Zero head movement while running routes. Efficient, smooth and doesn’t tip direction in routes.
MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Geezus that seems crazy fast to me. At least in my day it was.

Didn't Georgia's 345 lbs. D-lineman run a 4.8 at the combine?

Re: Zachary Dodson-Greene commits
I mean there's a reason he's still available right now. Part of that is Covid is still screwing high school recruits, but mostly it's because he's a project kid. You'd hope a guy who runs a 4.72 would be 6'5", or that a 6'1" guy would run a 4.5. But hey, we've all seen guys who don't look like much turn into very good players. As long as it's not costing much (any) money and there's a roster spot to offer, let him come in and see what happens.
It's also entirely possible and even probable to improve a 40 time through college. He's probably not done developing just naturally, and then with the development a college program would put on him, I could see him being a 4.5 guy and even growing a couple inches. Then suddenly he's a dude. But it's a matter of him sticking it out and MSU seeing enough potential to let him have a spot. Obviously it's also possible that he's done developing, that he's already had elite training, and that this is his ceiling.

Most players increase their speed/strength in college.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Fri May 13, 2022 10:15 amI mean there's a reason he's still available right now. A 4.7 laser for a WR is just fine coming out of HS. A 4.7 hand time is pretty meh. Despite players putting a 4.4 on their HUDL or Twitter pages, there are relatively few people who are truly running a sub 4.5 coming out of HS.

Couple things. The Rice and Fitzgerald times are, as they say, fake news. Oft quoted, but still wrong.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 12:49 pmKupp 4.62; jerry Rice 4.71; Larry Fitzgerald 4.63;Montanabob wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 12:16 pmTwo words.... Regarding Kupp, he did not perform well in regards to straight line speed or explosion, which would make sense if you watch him play. He was above 80th percentile compared to WR’s in his 3-cone and short shuttle. Which again, makes sense watching him play. The tests do work, but they have to match the tape. If a guy is a deep threat only in HS but is only running a 4.8, you can assume he won’t do that well in college against better competition, for example.
