Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
Anyone know if Troy is one of the 155 players threatening to boycott? In my opinion, the players and NFLPA have a great point here and hopefully the issues get worked out. Vaccines are widely available and the time for arbitrary "bubbles" is over.

I hope Troy’s agent has him go. The more NFL people that see Troy perform the better.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
I support the players on this topic in general but agree that Troy should go regardless of what happens. It could be the difference from last 2nd round and late 3rd/early 4th. If his draft position was locked in I'd say skip it and just do everything at the MSU Pro Day but since he has a chance to move up (especially since any in-person interaction with scouts will be a positive for a guy like Troy) he's better off going than joining the crowd and boycotting. Plus, if there really is a boycott, anyone that does go will get more time with the scouts than they normally would.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

I’m anti vax, Covid, regulations, etc., but this isn’t a good move by the athletes. You are basically not hired right now, and your not allowing your future bosses to evaluate you. It’s equivalent of a job fair and you deciding to not go. Well ok then you are risking a lot of money when your name isn’t even on their radar anymore. It’s counter productive and the NFL will just move on from you. I know Troy is smarter than that and I assume he will show up and preform.
As the old saying goes, there is a time and a place, this just isn’t it for these athletes since they have zero leverage.

The combine is like those made up stories of humans being abducted by aliens and having their bodies probed. I think they should just get rid of it and tell the owners, good luck. The League would end up with some Sonny Jurgenson looking QBs, but oh well.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
It probably depends on what kind of a player you are - a player like Troy who's going to need to rely on his athleticism to move up the draft board will benefit from going to the combine and showing what he can do in direct comparison to the guys from bigger schools who have more experience at the position. If you're a player who looks great on tape but doesn't necessarily have the 40 time or vertical jump numbers to match your game tape, it's probably not going to hurt to skip it. I'd say there's a 99% chance that the NFL and players will work something out and the Combine will take place with its full set of invitees.Hi-Line Bobcat wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 5:02 pmI’m anti vax, Covid, regulations, etc., but this isn’t a good move by the athletes. Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
I think the biggest beef the players (and agents) had with the original bubble plan was: Each player was only allowed to bring 1 person into the bubble with them.
Think about that....some of these guys have been working months with a private coach to improve their shuttle run. Some have a position coach that is like a sensei master to them. Some would like to have their big-time head coach singing their praises to his best friends...who happen to be NFL GM's and Head Coaches. Some would like to have their girlfriend or trusted uncle with them to keep them calm and keep them focused. Some would like to have their agent with them to work the room. Some might be working with a sports psychologist......
Obviously, each player is probably not allowed to bring a 15-20 person entourage....but having to pick only one.....isn't fair, or practical.
I'm not a corporate hater.....but this felt like a power move to allow the coaches, docs, GM's the ability to "possibly" take advantage of a 22 year old, who has been sheltered/protected/coddled all day, every day for the past 4 years of their life.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
Get them to answer a question they shouldn’t answer, get them to do a workout they shouldn’t do, etc. I’m sure that’s not common place but give that those are potentially the most impactful days of their lives, it’s best for them to have whomever they feel gives them the best chance to succeed, sitting in their corner.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
The primary purpose of the combine is to expose any weaknesses a player may have. Players and their associates know this. The tests (40, standing broad jump, shuttle, etc.) are all secondary. Some players may need an associate on hand, but I don't think Troy does.ND0479 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 10:11 amGet them to answer a question they shouldn’t answer, get them to do a workout they shouldn’t do, etc. I’m sure that’s not common place but give that those are potentially the most impactful days of their lives, it’s best for them to have whomever they feel gives them the best chance to succeed, sitting in their corner.
Troy's only concern is his physical health. He can handle anything dish out otherwise and will check all the boxes everywhere else. The scouts are going to love him even more after the combine unless they find something in the alein spaceship probe room.
