Thanks, Rick. Knight indeed. I thought we were lucky to get him. I think he’ll do fine somewhere else.RickRund wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 4:20 pmYou meant Knight...Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 3:20 pmCoach V. said he’d be having individual player meetings after the Sonny Holland Classic. Must have been true to his word. Quite a few not surviving. Wright is very athletic, but coming out of high school as a quarterback seems to have an effect on finding another position that worked.
We sat with his family at last years Gold Rush. Good bunch...

Shane’s a very good back. Really flashed at times when he was healthy.
Good luck kid in whatever you are deciding to do.

Re: Transfers
Bummer but not surprising. There are just too many quality running backs and not enough carries to go around. He is a solid running back, wonder if he finds another FCS home or drops down.
EDIT: his post makes it sound like he is done with football.

Re: Transfers
I was surprised when he didn't show up on the depth chart. He is smallish, but man....he is a worker. Had nearly five yards per carry (46/226); 13 carries for 111 yds. vs. Norfolk = 5.4 per carry and 12 for 67 vs. NAU...5.6 per carry. Not much more you can ask for.
Can't tell if he left on his own or not, but this guy was a gamer!

Re: Transfers
Doesn't Kyle Samson coach Tech? Looks like Estes is going back to play for a Kalispell coach. They must have known each other back there.

Re: Transfers
I'm sure there was just a little bit of familiarity, but Estes was at Drummond(?) until his senior year, then he was at Glacier for a year and played against Samson's team. But you know damn well Samson was plenty familiar with Estes.

Re: Transfers
Here's a "historic" transfer story...FYI "The Tale of Mitch Jones"
Jones was a freshman Bobcat running back in 1999, recruited by Cliff Hysell. Cliff retired after the '99 season and was replaced by Mike Kramer.
Mitch ran out of money, wasn't offered a full scholarship and went home to California.
MSU also had a new AD, Chuck Lindemenn who was hired away from NAIA Humbolt State and, as it turned out, the brand new beautiful stadium addition had just been completed and was ready for the 2000 season.
Lindemenn cut a deal with his old school in what was to be a win-win situation. The Cats would open in their new digs with a win for new coach Kramer, Humbolt would get a opportunity to make some money and play an 1AA program in front of 15,000+ fans.
But it all went wrong. Humbolt showed up armed with a new running back, Mitch Jones. Jones, incidentally, had also been a member of the Bobcat track team. As expected, the Cats took control early led by QB Farhaad Azimi who came in highly touted by Kramer. But the Lumberjacks wouldn't go away and the Cats led at half-time 14-0.
THEN...Mitch Jones ran wild in the second half. scoring two touchdowns and by the end of the game rushed for 213 yards. Also at the end of the game the score was 14-23 Humbolt State. The always quotable Kramer said "We were victimized by our youth. We ran out of emotional savvy." He had another beauty for another reporter, "we go as long as we can as hard as we can. We just ran out of gas." This after being beaten by an NAIA school and a former Bobcat running back. I sometimes miss that guy.
Oh, and just to add some fuel....the previous week Humbolt State was beaten by Montana Tech 19-16.
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY EVERYBODY'S MOTHER!

Re: Transfers
Thanks, that is a great story on so many levels.
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Re: Transfers
Well I'd say there are a couple cool things about the story but overall it's a terrible story because the Bobcats lost.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Re: Transfers
I’m going to miss this guy, too! I always cheered a little harder for him after he made his mark in the Spring scrimmage. He’s the kind of guy you need on a team. And hand him the rock, it always went forward!

Well, the real terrible part of the story I left out to save the pain....but, after that loss they lost ten more times in a row.

Thought he had the best arm of the quarterbacks on the field during the scrimmage.
Another Montana underdog I had high hopes for.
