Re: Weber
The tone was set early. Breath on them and its a foul. Weber looks like they're doing pregame warm up layup drills and our guys are the ball boys.

Re: Weber
Cats keep fighting. Belo been shooting FTs. Down by 7, but only 1:22 left. Scoring, but can't seem to get a stop at the other end of the floor.

Re: Weber
I can't believe its this close. But then the refs call Bishop for traveling when it should have been an and-one. Not in the cards for this one.

Re: Weber
Sloppy pass turn over will pretty much seal this one.

Re: Weber
No offense but how is it a homer job when the road team makes more freethrows than the home team even attempts? Montana State had 29 freethrows to Weber's 19. Weber had 19 total fouls to MSU's 17 and 3 of those MSU fouls came when MSU was purposefully fouling at the end.
It was a great game and a lot of fun to watch. I'll agree that the reffing was bad (as it always is) but in no way did it favor Weber.

Re: Weber
I felt like Weber played at a whole different level of physicality than MSU was allowed. But I think our guys conceded to easily to it. Weber got to shoot uncontested layups because our guys just accepted that that was way it going to be called. Belo-after only playing 2 minutes in the first half, basically played no defense in the second half. This was not the Bobcat team that we saw go 6-0. I think the rust of not playing last week showed as well.WSUWILDCAT wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 10:16 pmNo offense but how is it a homer job when the road team makes more freethrows than the home team even attempts? Re: Weber
The first 4:40 seconds, the Cats already had 4 fouls to Weber's one. The tone was set early in this game, and that was the game wasn't going to be called the same for both teams. It wasn't until the last 7 minutes in the game where the Wildcats started getting into foul trouble.WSUWILDCAT wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 10:16 pmNo offense but how is it a homer job when the road team makes more freethrows than the home team even attempts? My favorite is when a Weber player rose up for a floater, landed on a firmly planted Mike Hood, made the basket, no foul, and Hood got a warning or something for complaining. On the Cat's ensuing possession, the fed it into Belo and he was immediately doubled teamed, the double came in and crashed into Belo so hard it knocked him off his spot, no call - I'm surprised he wasn't called for traveling.

I think that had more to do with the style of offense Weber runs. Weber likes to run the ball. From what I've seen Montana State does not. Early foul trouble tends to happen whem teams are forced into difficult situations. And you're not prepared for it. Like guarding a team that likes to run.
My favorites where the three clean all ball blocks that were called on Weber towards the end two on Kozak and one on Basset that gave MSU 6 freethrows. And when Porter got called for fouling #11 when he shot a three when Porter never even touched him. The kid flopped to the floor and was awarded 3 free throws. Also Hood was standing his ground but Brown went around him and Hood fell anyway to try to get the call and the ref gave him a warning for flopping. It was a good no call and It was easy to see from my POV.

Re: Weber
Sure didn't look like he went around Hood from the TV angle. Maybe Hood leaned to his left?

I do agree about the Patterson flop 3, didn't look like much. As for the fouls down the stretch, Weber was very physical all game when MSU drove to the rim, plenty of clean ball blocks but tons of body contact, glad they started calling it finally. Bishop was getting hammered all game with hardly a call.
All that said I'm a firm believer that refs don't win or lose games, but it certainly affected the way MSU played.

Re: Weber
Three clean blocks! Come on now. Belo had to wear Kozak and the other big D-2 dude like a shirt. I'm surprised they didn't insist he carry them piggy-back down the court. Weber was getting three fouls for the price of one. It's on Sprinkle to get that fixed. He's got a lot to learn about working the refs. He could learn a thing or two from Rahe in that department.
