Choate to interview for Boise State job

I wonder if he would take that job. It would be a pay bump and it would set him up to move into a head coaching position at the FBS level (more than staying at MSU would). It's just hard to see him not being in charge.

I've been saying, if Choate wants to be HC at Boise State eventually, and he doesn't get it right now, next best thing would be to take the DC position and then he is by far the frontrunner when Avalos (or whoever) leaves in a few years.

IF Choate does get hired at Boise, then might there be a few players who want more playing time transfer to MSU? Ones that look good on paper, but not getting on the field because of better talent in front of them.

Yeah, I agree here. I don't think a HC, especially one as impactful and successful as Choate, is going to take a role where he's not in total control.

I am hoping that Avalos proposed a much stronger group of assistants on his team. That is the one area where he can overcome the support that Choate will receive from Petersen.

I’d bet a lot of $ that was it, that Choate and Avalos were the final 2 candidates and no one else. They wanted to do face-to-face with their final 2 in their own environments. I am guessing they will announce their choice soon.
