Touché. Forgot about Dixie State. But I’m not going to add UVU until they start the program!JDoub wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 10:49 amUtah now has 6 Div I Football programs - 3 FBS and 3 FCSonceacat wrote: ↑Sun Nov 22, 2020 10:39 pmI'm shocked Utah has that many. Utah only has 3 million people, which is a pretty small state population-wise. And they've got 3 FBS schools plus 2 FBS schools. Colorado has almost 2x the population, but only 3 D1 schools (unless you count Air Force, which recruits from a completely different pool of players) Washington and Arizona have well over 7 million people with 3 schools.
Dixie State University in the WAC is now full FCS, will play at least 1 FBS team this spring
And Utah Valley University, Div. 1, will most likely add football in the near future
Utah also has one of the top JC football programs in the country, consistently producing future NFL players (Snow College has produced more NFL players than MSU)
HS Football is big here in Utah, but it seems tapped out already for HS recruits. Many of the top HS recruits here seem to go elsewhere - Stanford, Oregon, Alabama, etc. instead of UofU -- BYU recruits all over the world for LDS kids, so overall it's kinda weird recruiting scene.

Re: Idaho recruiting
I've known some guys who transferred between UofU, BYU, Weebs, without having to move. I think there's 2 UVU bball players who started playing at BYU, didn't have to change apartments, same drive to either school.

Utah High Schools signed 41 football players to Div 1 programs yesterday, and 1 DIII
27 to FBS programs, 15 different programs including 7 Pac12 schools
14 to FCS programs, 6 different programs - including 4 Big Sky schools (none in Montana)

Idaho only signed one player from Idaho in the early period and Idaho State didn't sign anyone at all.

Well, Moscow and Pocatello aren't exactly football powerhouses right now. Can't blame a kid for attending an FCS school in one of the neighboring States. They all have much better, winning programs right now.
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Idaho State didn’t sign anyone in state or out of state. Not sure what their plan is, hoping for drop downs, or something else.
Portland State also didn’t sign anyone.

Re: Idaho recruiting
Portland state signed one, but they didn't sign many in early period last year either. Maybe looking for late period to get some late no signers from FBS or some transferring FBS. Or maybe they are not sure if they will have football anymore. Making upgrades to hillsborough stadium, probably to move there permanent.AFCAT wrote: ↑Fri Dec 18, 2020 12:12 pmIdaho State didn’t sign anyone in state or out of state. He's the brother of incoming player Titan Fleischman. Here's a cool article about the two from last October.

How can you not like kids named Bruin and Titan. Perfect football names hahacoachouert wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 10:55 amHe's the brother of incoming player Titan Fleischman. Here's a cool article about the two from last October.

Re: Idaho recruiting
Yeah, I'm definitely a traditionalist when it comes to names, but their names are well suited to their football positions. Well paired with their last name as well. Hopefully Bruin joins his brother at MSU!Cat4LifeHouseDivided wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 12:51 pmHow can you not like kids named Bruin and Titan.
