Is Kevin Thompson even a senior any more?! Is he like 25?

Marcus Knight 2nd team All-American is maybe the most laughable AA selection I've ever seen. He's not even the best running back in the State of Montana.
Couldn’t agree more. He’s maybe the 3rd best RB in the Big Sky behind Ifanse and Davis from Weber. Not a bad RB at all, but he’s nowhere near a 2nd team AA pick.

And then Hauck.... wow. I mean that’s all I can say about a 1st selection. Wow.

I'd draw it up like this (top 3 are hard):

1. Gilliam
2. Ifanse
3. Davis
4. Knight
5. Trans-Sampson

Having Hauck on the first team is a complete joke. The kid is aggressive, but he took so many Bad angles in Cat Griz that we could just run the ball right by him.

They don't even know who their QB is. And they sure as hell don't have the run game to make up for it. Sneed was their offense last year and it showed when Humphrey had to play. Hero Sports... More like Zero Sports.
Griz fans are super excited about a transfer from FBS Central Florida. The kid started his career at a D2, then went to a JUCO and eventually walked on at UCF where he played in 5 games in mop up duty and was like 12-24 for the season. Talk about grasping at straws!!! Someone actually compared him to Dave Dickenson! They are totally delusional in Missoula.

Yea that looks fair, I kind of forgot about Gilliam, he’s certainly up there.
Bottom line is, how does a solid RB that is roughly top 4-5 in his conference get selected as a 2nd team AA?

Oh well I suppose, I would imagine there will be a few chips on the teams shoulders after this.

At least! They should just start calling him Van Wilder.

I had the thought that if Sac decides not to play football this year, the NCAA could grant either a hardship waiver for him for a 13th year or maybe they'd let players transfer with no penalty.

I was thinking the same thing. If he stayed he'd be a 8th year senior I believe =D^ Good for him though, he's got to have at least 2 degrees by now, paid for.

It's hard to believe Sam went to Cat-griz last year after reading this and listening to his segment on T&N from yesterday.
This has McLaughlin all over it. He is such a griz fanboy.

From what I’m seeing that was playerrep who is pretty notorious for trolling over there. It looked like it was full of sarcasm but who knows, weirder things have happened there.

You know Choate absolutely loves being ranked behind the Griz with less preseason AC/AA picks than them. I mean it pisses him off, but that's exactly what he wants.

It was a different poster who goes by 1972. PR was making fun of that guy before he starts dropping names about how many celebrities he knows.

Totally thought he graduated. That bumps Knight down to #5.

I thought some of the same as you did coloradocat - even though B Mc was all over the Preseason All-American teams, here is an article by Sam that sheds a little light on his thoughts about the top 9 teams behind NDSU (in alphabetical order). It appears to me that they both share similar thoughts about returning "all-American" material of a certain Montana team.

Isaiah Ifanse is an amazing, powerful running back. I don't expect a national publication to pick on up that since Ifanse didn't play very many snaps last year compared to other backs and the FCS isn't set up to have its players get recognized if they don't dominate a statistical category. The most recognized players are the ones that put up the numbers. MSU has benefited from this in the past.

Gilliam, Davis and Knight are all good running backs, but none of them (few RBs anywhere) possess some of the skills Ifanse has. Ifanse has great vision, great patience and incredible power. He doesn't have blazing speed, but was able to outrace two safeties for a TD with a sizeable knee brace on.

His last five games of the season were the best string of five games by any back in the country. He faced UCD on the road and in a must-win game, No. 3 UM, then Albany, Austin Peay and NDSU in the playoffs. Aside from his skill set, he put up these numbers:
Carries - 84
Yards - 573
TDs - 6
Avg. 6.8

Receptions - 4
Yards - 41
TDs - 0
Avg. - 10.3

Attempts - 1
Completions - 1
Yards - 2
TDs - 1
Passer rating - 446.8

Blocked punts - 1 (for a safety)

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

The griz are given credit for having such a large percentage of returning players but losses of Sneed and Olsen are huge for them and I disagree that their lineup is filled with All Americans. Knight is a step up from what they've had and their interior lines are better than a couple of years ago but overall talent would need to step up a lot to be rated where they're at. A lot will depend on the quarterback getting the ball to their two wideouts. The Big Sky will be very competitive this year as there are several teams in the rankings. Kennesaw State is going to be a tough out this year - almost beat Weber in the playoffs last year and are returning most of the team.
