Spring sports

Post by Hawks86 » Fri Mar 13, 2020 12:41 pm

"The NCAA's Council Coordination Committee has agreed to grant relief for the use of a season of competition for student-athletes who have participated in spring sports," reports Goodman.

"[The] Committee will also discuss issues for winter sport student-athletes."

Would that mean kevin thompson could go for eight years to play four?

So Frey has the option of an additional year?

As unfortunate as the events are, this could be a huge boost for our programs.

Too bad we couldn't get Logan Jones or Jonsen for another year.

Maybe I’m wrong but as of now isn’t it just spring sport athletes but they are considering winter?

Correct. It's only spring sports at this point.

Such a common sense thing to do, glad for the spring sports athletes. Been a strange March without the tournament, will be a strange June without the CWS...

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Assuming we get sports next year it's going to be fascinating to see how it all plays out, especially with the spring sports. You let all these seniors stay and then add in the incoming freshman. Large rosters for coaches to figure out.

Was definitely the right thing to do though.

So happy they gave another year to seniors. But not impressed it’s up to each individual school to fund it. This means some seniors who want to come back may not have any financial aid to do so. Some may be asked to join back as a walk on. Or some may have their scholarships cut down to some level. If schools can’t fund it, then they may not be able to come back at all. Then you have to figure out roster sizes and limits and all the rest that can make this a nightmare.

I thought I had heard that there would be no changes with scholarships. But didn't realize it was up to each school. There are universities that I am sure can handle that. Wondering then about all the uofm's out there that are struggling. Would all the uncle denny's out there step up? Would they be allowed to step up? Guessing that might be a violation.

It wouldn't be a violation. It would be no different than donating to the Bobcat Club.
