Funny the clip starts with just Coronovirus in the headline. Anyway, good job finding a 2 minute cut up.
This is much more interesting and funny (in a scary way):
youtube.com/watch?v=BWO6i8cH8SA
Link doesn’t work.

Everyone was calling it Wuhan and Chinese corona virus when it initially started. The Spanish Flu didn’t start in Spain, but Spain, which wasn’t in WWII reported on it a lot and so it was called Spanish Flu. They’re still unhappy about it.
That's essentially what I read; most of the world's journalists were under a gag order and prohibited from reporting on it to avoid causing the kind of panic and stampedes we're seeing now. The Spanish journalists were the only ones writing and telling about what was going on.
That worked out well.

Maybe if they would’ve had Kenneth Copeland around nothing would’ve happened.

Copeland is a televangelist worth $700 million scamming people into thinking he can heal them of corona virus through their television.
Yeah that stuff is already out of hand. Alex Jones has a toothpaste that “kills sars and corona virus.” Jim Bakker, another televangelist and convicted fraudster, has been trying to sell something that “kills” corona virus. They were trying to sell it, but have gotten cease and desist orders. Just crappy human beings.

Back on topic, here are the Spring 2020 numbers. MSU increased full time equivalents, believe it not. UM, well...pretty much what you’ve come to expect.

Thanks for the info Cledus. Pretty amazing numbers. Looking back to the 2012 numbers it looks really sad for the western CC. A 7500 swing.

Well, um is starting to practice for shuttering the pink school. I guess they see the writing on the wall that the primary learning institute is in Bozeman.

I assume MSU and UM will have to pro-rate the room/board fees for the semester? I imagine that's a pretty big financial hit for both schools.

It’s only a hit for MSU. The regents will vote to have MSU pick up the costs for um.

I think it is time for the Regents to show some tough love. This disaster has been going on since at least 2012. If you had a leak in your tires and would only put in air to continue to drive. Pretty soon you do real damage to more than the tire. FIX YOUR DARN PROBLEM uofm. MSU should not be carrying your load. Nor others in the state. Question: does this have any funding effects on Dillon, Havre, etc?

This will have a significant impact on any campus that offers room/board.

UM's Spring 2020 enrollment is closer to MSU-Billings, than it is to MSU-Bozeman. MSU has approximtatley 13,800, which is 6,000 more than UM's 7,800, and that is only 5,000 more than the 2,800 at MSU-Billings. It's amazing that just 7 years ago, UM's spring enrollment was still slightly larger than MSU's, and now we've almost doubled them.

Is the loss from 2012 all on one president/chancellor? Is this year Bodnar's second year. If so why the heck was the past president allowed to continue the raping and pillaging of the university. The good buddy system???

Yes, I believe Dennison was the president for quite a few years, before Bodnar replaced him. And the last two years, our incoming freshman classes have been three times the size of UM's (approximately 3,000 to 1,000 I believe, each of the last two years), so the gap is likely to get even greater over the next 2-3 years, as those two classes work their way through.

Dennison was there for about 20 years and has been gone for about 10. Royce Engstrom replaced him and was there for several years. I know they had an interim and Bodnar has been there about 2 years. I don't know the details, but I know a few supporters that were really unhappy with what Engstrom did, but I know those people really liked Dennison, so that might have just been personal.

I totally forgot about Engstrom, but now that you mention it, I do remember that many UM alums were pretty upset with him, especially towards the end of his tenure. I think that was mostly because of the way he handled the Jordan Johnson situation and the sexual assault scandal.

I was listening to Coach Vigen yesterday during a Quarterback Club call and he said MSU welcomed it largest freshman class ever! Over 4,000! I haven’t seen this anywhere else yet, but does that translate to we took away more students from UM? Any figures on UM enrollment yet?

It will be interesting to see the final apples to apples numbers in a few weeks. UM usually boosts their freshmen numbers by including the 2-year community college numbers as well as their high school dual enrollment kids.

From what I've heard, MSU has a monster freshman class and UM's class will be similar to last year, which isn't great considering their big decline they blamed on covid.
