It's very cool to see Mike's perseverance rewarded. I'm sorta torn about who to cheer for in the SB. I've always cheered for the Chiefs just because I'm old enough to remember when Jan Stenerud played for them (and probably should have won the MVP when they beat the Vikes in SB IV), and as a Rams fan I've never liked the Niners, but it would be hard to cheer against Mike's team too.
I have never been a Niners fan, but have found myself rooting for them this season because of big Mike. As much as it would probably make my stomach churn, I will be cheering them on next weekend in hopes of a ring for Mike.

That’s funny. I was just thinking about something similar yesterday. I absolutely hated the Cowboys growing up, but I would always watch Pat Donovan play on offense and root for him because he was a childhood hero of mine and former Helena Bengal.

Have any Montanans won a Superbowl?
Sure, Pat Donovan, Pat Ogrin, and Jerry Kramer have won. Brock Coyle may have gotten a ring with the Seahawks, not sure on that one. Brock Osweiler grew up in Montana and has a ring too.
Pretty sure Dane has a ring with the Patriots.
I think they lost when he was there and won while he was in Tampa.
Correct.
Incorrect.
You are right. He was on the roster of the 2015 Pats that won it all. It’s a gray area for fans as he tore his ACL in preseason that year missed the entire season. Retired after the super bowl.
I was responding to the comment that he won a ring with Tampa Bay. He was at TB in 2014. TB won it in 2002, not 2014.
I didn’t read it that way. I don’t think the ouster was suggesting he won it with Tampa Bay in 2002. He was barely in high school then.

I read it as they were figuring out if he was in NE when they won it or if he missed out in his one season in Tampa in ‘14. I just pointed out that he lost the first one he played in, went to Tampa, but came back in ‘15 when the Pats won the whole thing.

I just don’t think we read the comments the same.
Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining.
Dane played with the Pats that lost SB46 to the Giants.
He didn't sign with the Pats again until after they won the SB49 (Signed in May. Superbowl was in February).

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

My love of the niners on a scale of 10 is somewhere around -100. Being an avid, die-hard RAM fan since probably 53 I can only hope Mike has a pancake block on every play over his hole.

I watched the replay to specifically watch Mike and came away impressed. I only saw one time when his man hurried the qb and no sacks. Moved well and was effective blocking in the second level.

Glad my loyalty to the chiefs all these years since Jan led the way fifty years ago was rewarded.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

One last high note to cap off Mike's terrific season... He was awarded the Bobb Mckittrick Award, issued to the 49ers offensive lineman who best represents the courage, intensity and sacrifice. (I) As a teammate of Mike's in Glendive on the baseball diamond, gridiron, or track and field arena, he would not be outworked or outdone by anyone and always found a way to persevere.

What a great representative to the State of Montana and OUR Montana State University!

So AWESOME!!! Mckittrick was quite a gentleman. To be honored with his award is, well, a distinct honor.
