D Mac
Apologies ahead of time if this has already been addressed in another thread; I'm WAAAAAY behind on my Cat Nation reading. I saw we hired a new RB coach; is DMac still on the staff?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Watching him play his Freshman year and taking command on the field, I was blown away. He had/has that "it" factor about him. Some day, we'll be saying he played and coached here. Lucky to have had him here.Cats15 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 2:17 pmYeah, I broke that story 10 years ago!FTG247365 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 7:25 pmTransferred to TCU....your way behindCatsNoMatterWhat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2020 4:38 pmApologies ahead of time if this has already been addressed in another thread; I'm WAAAAAY behind on my Cat Nation reading. Amen. I went to the Wazzu game that was his first ever college start and was shocked at his poise, skill, and field awareness. It's a shame he didn't have a consistent, solid coaching staff around him for 4 years... He would have been a perfect fit for a coach Choate offense.FTG247365 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 2:59 pmWatching him play his Freshman year and taking command on the field, I was blown away. McGhee could have started at MSU the same time as Choate did and would have been in virtually the same situation. We're literally having a discussion thread about losing yet another OC. Not sure how the "consistent, solid coaching staff" is different now than when he was a freshman here?grizzh8r wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 3:55 pmAmen. The the hard part of a successful FCS program, OC are always in demand . 2 years is the most time in a successful program, IMO.KittieKop wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 8:42 pmMcGhee could have started at MSU the same time as Choate did and would have been in virtually the same situation. Re: D Mac
Ahh yes, KK is always so quick to jump to the defense of Ash. Simply put, Choate is a better head coach who by and large has consistently hired and developed top quality assistants and isn't afraid of changing things up when it becomes necessary to do so. He has his finger on the pulse of the program at all times and I don't think it's a stretch to say that he has the unwavering respect and trust of the entire program (staff and players). It's well known by now that at the end of his DM's senior season, the program was in turmoil.KittieKop wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 8:42 pmMcGhee could have started at MSU the same time as Choate did and would have been in virtually the same situation. A coach Choate offense would be a gigantic waste of Denarius McGhee. A coach who only wants to throw the ball ten times is the coach you hire when you don't have a star QB and don't know where to find one.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2020 3:55 pmAmen. A coach Choate defense would have helped a lot during the McGhee years.

And you're arguing from the assumption that Coach Ash didn't in any way waste his 4 years of Denarius McGhee?bobcat99 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 10:48 amRovig threw the ball 23 times a game.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 1:38 amA coach Choate offense would be a gigantic waste of Denarius McGhee. I was never a big Ash fan. My posts here can confirm that.
With that said, the offense under Brian Wright was a very good system for McGhee. Should we have had better results with the talent we had those 4 years? Undeniably.

Re: D Mac
I think at the top the talent was just as good those 4 years as the last(if not in someways much better) but Ash never let any depth develop and by the end of the year we were run ragged, including DM. I wonder if we had a more balanced team(like with Choate), if the seasons wouldn't have ended with a "more" healthy DM and more of an impact in the playofss.bobcat99 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 2:30 pmLol.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 2:08 pmAnd you're arguing from the assumption that Coach Ash didn't in any way waste his 4 years of Denarius McGhee?bobcat99 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 10:48 amRovig threw the ball 23 times a game.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 1:38 amA coach Choate offense would be a gigantic waste of Denarius McGhee.
