Re: Matchups
You can play in up to 4 games and still have the season count as a redshirt one now. He'll have 4 more years to play after this one.

Did you just figure that out, I know that fizz fans dont know much about football, but this is old news.Htowngriz wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 10:17 amYou can play in up to 4 games and still have the season count as a redshirt one now. He'll have 4 more years to play after this one.
I case you didn't know Logan Jones who who scored the go ahead TD in last years game, redshirted last year

Re: Matchups
This is his first year in college. A redshirt freshman is someone who has already completed a year of school but didn't play or, now, played in no more than 4 games. He'll be a redshirt freshman next year. It's really not that complicated, even for a cat fan.cats2506 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 12:09 pmDid you just figure that out, I know that fizz fans dont know much about football, but this is old news.Htowngriz wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 10:17 amYou can play in up to 4 games and still have the season count as a redshirt one now. Re: Matchups
I just wanna get this straight.
McGourin, is an absolute beast, and a game changer. A pass rusher on a team lacking pass rushers. So the Griz coaches in all their might and wisdom, are going to redshirt him instead of using him for the playoff run?
What do you think is more likely. That McGourin maybe isn't quite as good as you say he is, or that the Griz coaches are stupid? It's one or the other.

2506 isn't confused about the true freshman/redshirt freshman labels.
He's laughing at the idea of a coaching staff redshirting their "best" player.
I thought they were supposed to teach English over in Missoula. You must have missed those classes.

I have a real low opinion of fizz fans and you are making it even lower.Htowngriz wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 2:18 pmThis is his first year in college. I'm not gonna bother responding to the substance of what you posted since you don't seem to have the ability to comprehend simple things.
I would suggest keeping your mouth shut around Cat fans, your ignorance may not show around you fizz fans but it is glaringly obvious around here.

Re: Matchups
I'm missing where anyone said McGourin is our best player (clearly O'Donoghue, the long-snapper, is our best player).
He's very good, and has performed well in the games he's played in, making an impact in most.
He also seems like the kind of player that could develop into an all-conference (maybe even all-american) DE by the time he's a senior.
Assuming he doesn't get injured going forward, he's not the difference between winning and losing this, or any game going forward this season, so saving him for 2023 seems like a smart decision.
Contrast that with Nick Ostmo, who is clearly the 2nd best RB on the team, who did not redshirt this season.
Now, If Jacob plays, gets 4 sacks, and absolutely crushes it, he may yet have his redshirt yanked to play in the postseason, but he hasn't made that type of impact in a game so far. I'm still very happy he's playing in this game, though.

Re: Matchups
Bingo! I think if Rovig hits close to 60% of his passes we win.bobcat99 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 3:04 pmFwiw, Troy Andersen passed on the Griz last year. I'm far from the biggest Rovig fan, but he's a better passer than Andersen.
Now, our OL is better than their OL. Our DL is better than their DL. I think our LB's are fairly evenly matched, and our secondary is better. They have the better QB, WR's, and TE's. Our RB's are a lot better.
They blitz to get a pass rush. And they blitz a lot. It can be effective. But what happens when they face a good OL? It leaves guys open, which is why their defensive passing numbers aren't so good. So if they stop blitzing, the run game can, and should, prosper. Rovig just has to find the open man. Lots of film study this week!!
On defense, our line will harass them. Sneed isn't as mobile as usual, but man, he has some good weapons.
This is a very winnable game. The more I think about it, the better I feel.

Nobody will be matching up against Akem tomorrow. Just watched him crutch by with his boot on his left leg at the AA championship in Butte.

Dunno, but I sure hope so... Guy is a real talent that I'd rather not see MSU have to defend again!
Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.
