2019 MT High School Football - Week 6

Post by VimSince03 » Fri Oct 04, 2019 3:47 pm

Class AA

1.) Billings West (4-0)
2.) Butte (5-0)
3.) Missoula Sentinel (4-1)
4.) Helena High (4-1)
5.) Helena Capital (4-1)
6.) Bozeman (4-1)
7.) Missoula Hellgate (3-1)
8.) Billings Senior (2-3)
9.) Kalispell Glacier (2-3)
10.) CMR (2-3)

Game of the Week: Helena Capital @ Butte

Player(s) of the Week (#5): Helena High QB Kaden Huot - 12/18 for 239 yards and 4 touchdowns as well as 134 rushing yards on 14 carries for another touchdown vs. Missoula Hellgate

Special Notes: The sophomore QB (Hout) had his coming out party against Missoula Hellgate last week accounting for 373 total yards of offense and five touchdowns. Huot was in a battle with senior Hayden Ferguson (who can play about 18-20 positions on the football field) but Kaden was always the better pure QB. Him raising his level of play makes the Bengals tougher to gameplan against, giving them more versatility on offense. The Bengals want to run the ball and Huot showing the ability to hit the big passes only makes their ground game tougher to stop. I still think West, Butte, and Sentinel are the top three teams but Helena High and Helena Capital will be battling for #4 with Bozeman hanging around as well.

Class A

1.) Miles City (4-0)
2.) Billings Central (4-0)
3.) Dillon (4-1)
4.) Hamilton (4-1)
5.) Libby (5-0)
6.) Frenchtown (4-1)
7.) Laurel (3-1)
8.) Lewistown (3-1)
9.) Whitefish (4-1)
10.) Sidney (2-2)

Game of the Week: Laurel @ Billings Central

Player(s) of the Week (#5): Butte Central QB Thomas McGree - 12/25 for 296 yards and 3 touchdowns/1 interception as well as 78 rushing yards on 13 carries for three more touchdowns vs. Stevensville

Special Notes: Butte Central 100% had the toughest schedule to open the season in Class A as they ran the gauntlet against Dillon, Hamilton, and Frenchtown losing to all three. However, one of the biggest bright spots in those games was the play of QB Thomas McGree. Last week was his second straight 6 touchdown game and he played well against Hamilton in the first game of the year (over 400 total yards of offense). The Maroons will have to enter the State A playoffs as a wildcard but their schedule will give them plenty of time to improve.

Class B

1.) Fairfield (4-0)
2.) Eureka (4-0)
3.) Manhattan (4-0)
4.) Red Lodge (5-0)
5.) Malta (4-0)
6.) Missoula Loyola (3-2)
7.) Glasgow (4-0)
8.) Huntley Project (3-2)
9.) Florence (4-1)
10.) Townsend (4-1)

Game of the Week: Eureka @ Florence

Player(s) of the Week (#5): Red Lodge RB Finnegan Davis - 3 rushing touchdowns in a big win vs. Huntley Project

Special Notes: None of the media really gave Red Lodge any notice in the preseason and rightfully so as the Ram's history of success has been small (three wins in the prior three seasons). However, this Red Lodge team is loaded with talent and they are very similar to last year's Big Timber team. They are athletic and physical led by RB/LB Finnegan Davis, TE/DE Elijah Reynolds, OL/DL Presten Erhlich, and RB/LB Jay Jetmore.

Class C (8-man)

1.) Fairview (5-0)
2.) Alberton/Superior (5-0)
3.) Fort Benton (5-0)
4.) West Yellowstone (5-0)
5.) Great Falls Central (4-1)
6.) Thompson Falls (4-1)
7.) Centerville (4-1)
8.) Circle (4-1)
9.) Shelby (4-1)
tie10.) Drummond/Philipsburg (3-2)
tie10.) Scobey (4-1)

Game of the Week: Ekalaka @ Scobey

Player(s) of the Week (#5): Thompson Falls QB/RB Trey Fisher - 209 yards on 20 carries for 6 rushing touchdowns vs. Drummond/Philipsburg

Special Notes: In both of Flint Creek's losses, they have struggled to contain the best athlete of the opponent and it has led to lopsided losses each time. But teams like Alberton/Superior and Thompson Falls have just been better this year in the Western C. Fairview continues to dominate while Fort Benton is still undefeated in their best season since dropping down to 8-man.

Class C (6-man)

1.) Wibaux (4-0)
2.) Big Sandy (5-0)
3.) Hot Springs (5-0)
4.) Power/Dutton/Brady (4-0)
5.) Westby/Grenora (4-1)
6.) Jordan (4-1)
7.) Richey/Lambert (3-2)
8.) Shields Valley (4-1)
9.) Noxon (3-1)
10.) White Sulphur Springs (3-2)

Game(s) of the Week: Westby/Grenora @ Richey/Lambert; Noxon @ Hot Springs

Player(s) of the Week (#5): Jordan QB Keenan Murnion - 6 total touchdowns (4 rushing/2 passing) vs. Richey/Lambert

Special Notes: Jordan posted a huge win over Richey/Lambert which moves them into a position to control their own destiny for the #2 spot in the Eastern C. The Mondak Thunder will take on Richey/Lambert this Friday in a game that will either clear up or muddle the Eastern C race for the #2 spot. A fun conference every year.

AA game of the week isn’t materializing. Butte 28-3 at half. Moreno two TD runs.

Even though I’m probably biased toward Helena teams I don’t consider HHS or CHS to be top 5 teams this year. Not trying to take anything away from Butte. I thought Capital would be at the beginning of the year.

Butte, West, Sentinel and Bozeman are all better IMO.

Mellott 168 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries, but just 10-22 passing. Although he did have over 200 yards and two touchdowns.

Helena High loses at home to Flathead 13-9. Wow, I sure didn't see that coming!

I don't know how Central was ranked #1. They were flat out whooped last night night. They do not have any o-line or much of a d-line. Laurel looked good and hungry. Congrats to those guys.
