Billings West FS/WR Connor Ryan Commits

Post by VimSince03 » Tue Aug 13, 2019 12:12 pm

Connor is a 6'1", 195 lb. safety and wide receiver. He got recruited as a safety and it makes sense when you watch his junior tape...when he saw the field. Speaking of seeing the field, Connor received no AA offense or defense accolades last year as a junior as Billings West had two All-State safeties in Lucas Gibb and Kade Wilcox. Connor was mostly a stalwart on special teams (HM AA All-State kick returner) while playing a reserve role on offense and defense. So how does a kid who mostly played special teams earn an offer from a FCS school before his senior season begins? Football camp performance...that's how. Connor turned heads this summer and got coaches to start altering their projections for him. Basically, Connor is slated to have an All-State season for Billings West as he finally gets to start at safety while also continuing his role on offense as a receiver. He didn't make my initial Top 50 because...well...their wasn't much out there on him. But things can change fast when you take advantage of your opportunities as a recruit.

As legacy kids usually go, Connor is following in his dad's footsteps by attending MSU. Connor's dad, Si Ryan III, played football for MSU while his dad's cousin Pat played at Notre Dame. Connor is first cousin's with Holden Ryan who played for the Griz a few years before now settling at Rocky Mountain. It's a very athletic family.

Ran a PR of 10.9. This guy will be interesting to follow next year in football and track. Basketball?

The size and the bloodlines are very good. If this kid can grow into a safety, watch out!

Reminds me a little of Mack Anderson. He didn’t start until his senior year at Bozeman, but committed to UM hoops before his senior season.

If he's a 6'1 195 safety running a sub 11 100 as a HS Jr...then I cannot wait to see what happens once he hits college training. Exciting body type.

I think Ryan’s the best player in the state not named Eiden.

Based off one game? I agree that Connor has a chance to have a breakout year his senior season.

And sorry but its clearly Carson Rostad.

Those highlights are the first I have seen of him, very impressive!!! not only does he have some wheels, but he also looks to have pretty good size.

I think a lot of people are going to look good against Missoula Big Sky... Hawks play them tonight, Ash and company could have big games... (FYI you can listen to the Hawk game tonight on KGVM... The Play-by-play guy is the WORST)
