Re: South gym roof collapse
Does anyone think that with the gyms coming down and obviously structure(s) going up in their place, MSU takes the opportunity to work on that area as part of the athletics master plan? That whole area between the SUB and the stadium was envisioned as a "gateway" mall-type area. Seems like an opportunity to me.

I sure hope so, it seems an opportunity (insurance replacement cost) has certainly presented itself. Would make a nice announcement, dovetailing from the announcement that the football center in the NEZ is under way.KittieKop wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 6:47 pmDoes anyone think that with the gyms coming down and obviously structure(s) going up in their place, MSU takes the opportunity to work on that area as part of the athletics master plan? At first glance it seems like a funny thing to keep bringing up but I hate to see NIco's name brought up in such a negative way when he really had nothing to do with someone else's asinine rant.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 4:39 pmAs it should. Don't disagree. But I don't think it's too serious. Harmless message board banter. If it was people actually dragging Nico through the mud I'd agree. But this was something else completely that was so crazy it was hilarious.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 11:17 pmAt first glance it seems like a funny thing to keep bringing up but I hate to see NIco's name brought up in such a negative way when he really had nothing to do with someone else's asinine rant.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 4:39 pmAs it should. Didn't the Metrodome collapse because of snow? Isn't it a dome? Aren't most of the other buildings on campus flat? Do they build flat roofed buildings in Alaska or other locations that have large amounts of snowfall?catsrback76 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 12:38 amSometimes it takes something like this to revisit the prevailing wisdom. Also sounds like good news for Romney.https://kxlh.com/news/montana-politics/ ... -projects/Renovation of Romney Hall into more classroom space at MSU. The $32 million project has been a priority for the university system for several years. Under HB652, $25 million of the cost would be funded by bonds and the remainder by private funds.

With replacement insurance in place, we should be able to build a nice building that fixes a lot of needs. So that was kind of fortuitous.
And Phat Cat is awesome. 99% of the time, he's right. And he was right, at the very least, talking to Nico about any people he might know would have been a wise decision.
