I'm just gonna keep posting about Montana kids signing tomorrow. Here is my quick take on Ryan Lonergan: he is really friggin' good and will make an impact early in his career.
Agreed - could even get considerable time next season
Now I wouldn't go that far. He needs a few years to hone in on his blocking technique. I was thinking more like his redshirt freshman season. Guys like Ryan Davis (redshirt sophomore) and Derryk Snell (redshirt freshman) will be the favorites to be starting TE's next year unless MSU doesn't bring in a transfer or move a player to the position already on the roster.

I don't always have time to analyze every signed player; but who does people think is the sleeper of the class from Montana?

Depends on what qualifies as a sleeper, but I say Alex Johnson.

It's hard not to get too excited about several of these players, but I would say if we can't develop Jaden Smith into something outstanding, we will have missed a wonderful opportunity. He's incredibly athletic (see his basketball videos) and seems to have outstanding hands. Being 6'5"with decent speed, what an awesome downfield target he could be, not to mention in the red zone. I think we got a steal.

Sleeper from MT kids....

Never know, but I think Thelen will be both a “sleeper” and a “steal”, I could see him developing into a really good QB.

It never fails, every year both the cats and Griz get a MT kid to walk on (or a partial scholly) that ends up being one of the best players on the team.

Nearly every Montana kid is a partial scholarship or PWO now. Rarely does a kid get a full-ride offer so I guess what I'm trying to say is those kids aren't really going under the radar based off their offer. That is kind of the "market value" of good Montana kids these days. But if there is a kid that maybe is being underestimated in this class, I would say Joe Olson.

Well that's a bummer. He's a good kicker.

Sweet! But if he is given a scholarship for track, and tries to play football, that switches to a football scholarship.

If he's a walk-on for track then it doesn't matter. Sure would like to see his speed on the field though.

Big time player headed to Montana Tech. Took an offer instead of opting for PWO. D1 quality kid, however.

Perhaps our young depth at RB influenced this decision.

Tech just hired Kyle Samson as their OC. My guess is that is what influenced the decision

I think Counts is potentially a good enough Frontier player that Tech may have hired Samson because he could get Counts. Not that Samson is a bad hire at all--he'll be great--but if it was close between Kyle and somebody else, getting Counts could've put Samson ahead.
